- Her husband owned Atlas Corporation, RKO Studios, Convair aircraft company, Northeast Airlines, and Bonwit Teller department stores.
- Discovered at age 6 that her parents were actually foster parents. They had agreed to raise her in exchange for a tract of land. The foster parents never revealed her real parent's names nor why she was renamed Jacqueline. She chose the last name "Cochran" from a phone book.
- Held more speed, altitude, and distance records than any pilot in aviation history.
- Died at her home in Indio, California. Buried in Coachella Valley Cemetery.
- Upon her death, her remains were interred at Coachella Valley Public Cemetery in Coachella, Riverside County, California.
- In 1953 she became the first woman pilot to break the sound barrier.
