Acting career: Dhananjay Atrey started facing the camera through still modeling for Kingfisher Derby after graduating from college. His movie work started with a bit role in the Kannada film 'Budhivantha'-2007, followed by character roles in films such as 'Bombaat', 'Yodha', 'Devru' and 'Veerappan's Attahasa'. He also acted in Kannada television serials such as 'Parineeta' & 'Munjaavu' (Chitrapata Productions) in 2009-10. He played the lead in the serial 'Chitralekha' 2011-12, for close to 300 episodes.
In 2018, Dhananjay produced the Kannada Feature Film 'Karshanam' through his home banner 'DJ Entertainments', where he played the lead character of a youth from an underprivileged background who dreams big.
Early Life: Born in Bengaluru, Dhananjay is the son of Dr. Ananth K. Atre a leading educationalist and Smt. Jaya Atre. He originally hails from Bhagamandala in Kodagu district of Karnataka. Dhananjay graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Bengaluru. Dhananjay started with method acting and has undergone training at 'Abhinaya Taranga', a noted school of acting in Bengaluru, under the guidance of Smt. Gauri Dattu.
Dhananjay's interests include Superbike riding, Yoga & Meditation.
