This past spring, actor and comedian Drew Droege was performing his one-man show Happy Birthday Doug at the SoHo Playhouse in New York City, when it was cut short in March like the rest of live theater due to social distancing restrictions enforced to reduce harm during the Covid-19 pandemic. Now Droege (known to thousands of fans from his “Chloë” clips, Drunk History, Bob’s Burgers, RuPaul’s Aj and the Queen on Netflix) is thrilled to offer a recorded version of the performance filmed during quarantine on BroadwayHD from producer Michael Urie.

Grease 2 has long unjustly suffered as a box office bomb and disappointing sequel. It’s actually even better than the classic Grease in many ways, at least when it comes to gender dynamics. Maxwell Caulfield plays Michael Carrington, a new student at Rydell high. He falls in love with Pink Lady Stephanie (Michelle Pfeiffer) who only dates T-Birds. So Michael creates a mysterious biker persona to woo her. Filmmaker Brian Herzlinger (My Date with Drew) assembled director Pat Birch and cast members Caulfield, Adrian Zmed, Leif Green, Christopher McDonald, Alison Price, Maureen Teefy, Liz Sagal and Jean Sagal for a […]

This is either going to be really good or so bad, it’s great. But either way, ABC’s relaunch of Battle of the Network Stars (premiering Thursday, June 29 at 9/8c) is looking like the summer’s must-see — especially since on Tuesday the full list of competitors was released. The celebrities we’re most psyched to see throwing down in events like the kayak relay race and dunk tank:

What is Shelf Life? I recently moved into a new apartment, which means I had to box my entire movie collection. Now I’m trying to figure out how much of my physical media actually fits here. Each and every title is now up for grabs, new or old, and it’s time to decide what goes on the shelf and what just plain goes. Title: The Final Terror Year: 1983 Director: Andrew Davis Screenwriter: Jon George & Neill D. Hicks and Ronald Shusett Format: Blu-ray/DVD combo pack Purchased Or Sent: Sent. What Is It? Deliverance The 13th. Filled with actors you vaguely recognize when they were young (including Daryl Hannah, Joe Pantoliano, Rachel Ward, and Adrian Zmed), this is a fairly dull slasher entry that leans heavily on what must have already been cliches when they did them, but which are almost unbearable to sit through at this point. The fourth installment of Syfy's mega-popular Sharknado series premiered Sunday. And in case there was any question that The 4th Awakens would be a slight Star Wars parody, the film answered that right away by opening with an "Episode IV" scrolling prologue reminiscent of George Lucas' space franchise.
Ian Ziering was back as chainsaw-touting Fin Shepard, alongside Tara Reid and David Hasselhoff. With a new team of allies by their side, they battled the Sharknados – which this time have evolved into fire-breathing, hail-throwing, sand-blasting threats.
They also spewed their fair share of Star Wars puns, including a "May the force be with you" line,...

Reunion on the Lido Deck!
The original cast of The Love Boat – along with a whole lot of former guest stars – gathered in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Wednesday to help christen a new line of Princess Cruise ships.
But it's unlikely the ships were nearly as interesting as the reunion itself, which included the drama's original stars such as Gavin Macleod (Capt. Bachelor Party will be adapted for television.
The 1984 film - which starred Tom Hanks and Adrian Zmed - is being developed as a half-hour comedy series, reports Deadline.
The adaptation focuses on three couples who are at different stages in their relationships. One pair are engaged, the second divorced, while the final couple have started dating.
ABC has given the go-ahead for a put pilot to be produced.
Jj Philbin and Josh Malmuth - who have both worked on Zooey Deschanel sitcom New Girl - are co-creators of the anthology series.
In the original film, Hanks played Rick Gassko, a man who tries to resist temptations to be unfaithful to his fiancée during his bachelor party.

This is a somewhat light week for Blu-ray releases, as far as quantity goes. In regards to quality, though, it is a pretty spectacular week. We have a Scream Factory release of a film once thought to be lost forever, and one of the most anticipated releases from Grindhouse since they started releasing Blu-ray. Also worth noting are releases of Afflicted by Sony, which is an eerily effective found-footage vampire film, and the complete first season of SyFy’s original show Helix. I realize that there are probably other titles hitting the shelves today, but this is both what I feel is worthy of your dollars, and the titles that I was sent to talk to you about. The summer releases are starting to heat up, and next week is pretty great as well.
The Final Terror (Scream Factory)
Any week that includes a Scream Factory release could be considered a good week.

Any week that includes a Scream Factory release could be considered a good week. This particular Scream factory release is of a film that has long eluded me. I’ve been aware of its existence, but never managed to actually acquire and consume it. Now that I’ve had that chance, I wish I had tracked it down before, so that I would have a frame of reference to compare the video and audio presentations to. From what I understand, The Final Terror was considered a “lost” film, and since it was a bucket list title, Scream Factory acquired several different sources in order to spruce it up, and splice together a master cut of the film. The Final Terror is not going to appeal to everyone, as in a lot of ways, it very much shows its age. However, if you like classic horror cinema – especially from the eighties...

To kick off the month of July, there are a ton of genre Blu-ray and DVD releases coming out that should get you through the long holiday weekend if barbecues and fireworks aren’t necessarily your thing.
Not only will Cannibal Holocaust finally be getting its due in high definition this week, but Scream Factory is also bringing us The Final Terror and Sony is releasing the stellar indie horror flick Afflicted to DVD and Blu-ray as well. And if you’re a horror geek who can’t get enough of Echo Bridges’ multi-title releases, well then you’ll want to check out a few more of their collections which will be arriving this week too. Also, for those of you Twilight Zone fans out there, Image Entertainment has put together a great collection of the series’ most beloved episodes for you to enjoy in honor of the upcoming 55th anniversary of the show.

The Weekend Watch is an open thread where you can share what you’ve recently watched, offer suggestions on movies and TV shows we should check out (or warnings about stuff to avoid) and discover queue-filling goodies from other Fsr readers. The comments section awaits. I’ll get the ball rolling with the movies/TV my eyeballs took in this weekend. Try, for a second, to imagine a world where the director of The Fugitive (Andrew Davis) made a film that starred Rachel Ward, Daryl Hannah, Joe Pantoliano *and* Adrian Zmed. I know. It sounds like pure fantasy. But I’m here to tell you it’s real. The Final Terror is an early ’80s “killer in the woods” flick that used to be played regularly on HBO, but I hadn’t seen it in decades. Scream Factory’s new Blu-ray gave me the opportunity to revisit it, and while I remembered it being a fun thriller...

Does The Final Terror Have the Goods Out in the Woods?
Hey creeps, I just sat down with Scream Factory’s Blu-ray of The Final Terror, and I feel like it’s my civic duty to get something out in the open right from the start. Much like the lies propagated by The Neverending Story (which did indeed end after a paltry 90 minutes!) before it, The Final Terror is not what the title proclaims. I mean, there have been like hundreds of horror films made after this movie came out (in 1983)—some even have “terror” in the title!
Well, I guess the best thing...

A mainstay of worst-sequels-ever-made lists, squirming alongside the likes of Batman & Robin, Speed 2 and Exorcist II: The Heretic, Grease 2 was roundly lambasted upon its 1982 release and its critical reputation has nose-dived ever since. Here's a film that cost $11.2m to make (£6.7m) - almost twice the budget of its much-loved, popular culture-bothering forerunner - and yet failed to secure the return of its two stars, John Travolta and Olivier Newton-John, or its composers, Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey.
It entered its 58-day shoot working from an unfinished script, with Didi Conn (reappearing as Frenchy, though she vanishes halfway through the movie) calling the production "rushed, frantic and unorganised". Its stars Michelle Pfeiffer and Maxwell Caulfield failed to get along, Pfeiffer later labelling her on-screen lover as "self-adoring". It turned away a young Tom Cruise for the role of T-Birds leader Johnny Nogerelli, instead plumping for the strikingly uncharismatic Adrian Zmed.

Birthday shoutouts go to Landon Donovan (above), who is 32, Adrian Zmed is 60, Chaz Bono is 45, and the faboo Catherine O’Hara is 60. Sexy Holidays to you!
Fox has picked its Bruce Wayne for Gotham, and it’s … a little kid! Which makes perfect sense, of course. I don’t know why the hell I thought it would be a hot twenty-something.
I’m verklempt. I mean seriously having palpitations. I already posted the audio of “Barracuda” from tonight’s Glee, and here are Santana, Elliot, and Rachel doing Laura Branigan‘s classic “Gloria” (a song which may come in … very high … on my Top 100 Ladies of The 80′s List). Much like The Burning, The Final Terror is one of those early Eighties slasher-in-the-woods flicks that may actually be more noteworthy because of how many members of its young cast would go on to greater stardom.
Scream Factory is dusting off this nearly forgotten screamer for Blu-ray release as part of its “Summer of Fear”.
Forest rangers go camping in the woods and trespass into wilderness territory they shouldn’t have. Pot is smoked. Sex is had. Canoes are paddled. Throats are cut.
A fairly standard 1982 slasher that’s better than some, worse than others, The Final Terror has primarily toiled in obscurity since the VHS days, a little surprising considering it boasted a cast that would go on to bigger and better things.

Today, we're featuring Adrian Zmed circa 1988. His first major acting gig was the role Danny Zuko, in the national touring company production of Grease. He later appeared in the Broadway stage musical three times, twice in the role of Zuko. In the original Broadway production of Grease, he starred with Jeff Conaway, who played Kenickie in the 1978 motion picture Grease. Zmed returned to stage work in the 1990s, headlining the musical Children of Eden at the Paper Mill Playhouse, and starred in three shows on Broadway Falsettos, Blood Brothers, and Grease.

Santa Monica, Calif. — A hungry Chris O'Donnell arrived straight from the set of "NCIS: Los Angeles" and polished off a piece of pizza. Joe Mantegna, Dennis Farina and Roger Ebert's wife were craving their favorite Chicago foods, too.
Chicago Cubs owner Tom Ricketts felt right at home, with "Mr. Cub" Ernie Banks resting on a stool and Harry Carey's widow Dutchie standing at the bar.
There was a Midwest feeling in the air Monday night, even if everyone was almost 2,000 miles from the Second City. It was the 25th Windy City West bash, bringing together expatriate Chicagoans from film, television and sports for a taste of home on the West Coast.
"It's unlike any other Hollywood party. People are actually looking each other in the eye and talking," said O'Donnell, who grew up in the Chicago suburb of Winnetka. "There's nobody looking over anyone's shoulder. That's the difference.

Trailers are an under-appreciated art form insofar that many times they’re seen as vehicles for showing footage, explaining films away, or showing their hand about what moviegoers can expect. Foreign, domestic, independent, big budget: I celebrate all levels of trailers and hopefully this column will satisfactorily give you a baseline of what beta wave I’m operating on, because what better way to hone your skills as a thoughtful moviegoer than by deconstructing these little pieces of advertising? Some of the best authors will tell you that writing a short story is a lot harder than writing a long one, that you have to weigh every sentence. What better medium to see how this theory plays itself out beyond that than with movie trailers? The Hunter Trailer This certainly has a nice pedigree. Having a film being executive produced by the man who brought us Animal Kingdom, being based...

Headlines were made last July when it was announced that a big screen version of T.J. Hooker was in the works. While the original William Shatner series is a cop drama, the new movie will be a comedy.
The movie's producers have expressed interest in having original TV series castmembers like Shatner, Adrian Zmed, Heather Locklear, and James Darren play roles in the movie but don't want it to feel arbitrary.
At the time, producer Ryan Heppe said, "We absolutely want to try and get the original cast in the movie... It's all about finding the right story motivations to include their characters so we’re not just stopping the movie to drop by Adrian Zmed's house, you know?"
While Shatner has hinted that he might be ready to play the father of a new T.J. Hooker, Locklear isn't planning to...

Locklear Not Approached For T.J. Hooker Reunion
Heather Locklear has brushed off rumours she's set to star in a planned big screen revival of 1980s TV cop drama T.J. Hooker, insisting producers haven't approached her about starring in a remake.
The U.S. series, produced by TV mogul Aaron Spelling, premiered in 1982 with Locklear starring opposite William Shatner's title character - and now it's set for a modern makeover as creator Rick Husky oversees its transition as producer.
But Locklear admits she's not reprising her role, explaining, "They haven't asked me. I don't think they've asked (former co-star) Adrian Zmed, but I'm sure William Shatner is willing to do it. I can't see why (he would) not... Maybe (I'll see the film) when it comes out on DVD or something."...

Last week, we reported that work is underway on a feature film based on T.J. Hooker, the 1980s TV show that stars William Shatner, Adrian Zmed, Heather Locklear, James Darren, Richard Herd, and Hugh Farrington. While the original series is a drama, the plan is to make this new movie a comedy.
Movie producer Ryan Heppe told Variety, "The series was the poster child for cop TV shows in the 1980s with great stunts, so we think there's a fun movie to be made from it."
The concept seems tailor made to include actors from the television show in some capacity and Heppe agrees. He told the New York Post, "We absolutely want to try and get the original cast in the movie."
He cautioned though that they want to make sure it makes sense, saying, "It's all about finding the right story motivations to include their characters so we're...

Thankfully, the mostly mediocre TV movie reunions recapitulating past series are extinct, but the ongoing effort to reincarnate many hits of the 1960s-1990s as either “reimagined” new TV shows or big-budget movies continues. Alas, for every good film version (Star Trek, The Fugitive, Get Smart, the Addams Family movies, Maverick, George Of The Jungle), there are plenty of awful ones (The Mod Squad, Dudley Do-right, The Beverly Hillbillies, McHale’S Navy, Car 54, Where Are You?). And for every hit (Charlie’S Angels, the Mission: Impossible movies, Starsky & Hutch, The Untouchables, Dukes Of Hazzard, Dragnet), there are lotsa misses (The Avengers, Land Of The Lost,...

Yet another William Shatner TV series is heading to movie theaters. This time, it's T.J. Hooker, the cop show executive produced by Aaron Spelling during his legendary run on ABC. Shatner didn't get to be in the recent Star Trek reboot, will he be in this movie?
T.J. Hooker revolves around a veteran cop (Shatner) who, after his plainclothes partner is killed in the line of duty, returns to the streets as a patrol sergeant. He's assigned to train academy recruits and is partnered with a young, headstrong rookie named Vince Romano (Adrian Zmed). Others in the series include Heather Locklear, James Darren, Richard Herd, and Hugh Farrington.
The series ran for two seasons on ABC as an hour-long drama before the alphabet network cancelled it. CBS then picked it up for two more seasons but assigned it to the late night "Crime Time After Prime-Time" schedule, running opposite The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.

"T.J. Hooker" will get the movie makeover as an action comedy!
The hit TV show from the 80s gets its movie adaptation from producers David Foster, Ryan Heppe, and series creator Rick Husky.
Chuck Russell, the guy who gave us "The Scorpion King" and "The Mask" is negotiating to direct.
The film version will focus on the relationship between our hero, T.J., and his dad. But I don't know how the writing team of Brent Maddock and S.S. Wilson will make the characters and the plot interesting. The writing duo gave us "Wild Wild West" (I know, not a good sign) and many "Tremors" films (yeah, definitely not a good sign!).
No word yet on the cast, or whether William Shatner, the original Sgt. Thomas J. 'T.J.' Hooker, will make a cameo. What about series originals Adrian Zmed and Heather Locklear?
For now, let's take a look...

· The '80s TV cop drama T.J. Hooker is today's requisite Hollywood-recycling success story, with director Chuck Russell in talks to bring William Shatner's brooding, middle-aged patrol sergeant to the big screen. No actors have yet been cast, but if you thought the Shatner/George Takei showdown was ugly, just wait for the inevitable power struggle that will consume him and Hooker co-star Adrian Zmed when Russell announces there's only room for one of them. When we rant about remakes and reboots, it's easy to hide in hyperbole. It seems like there are a lot of them, but maybe we're just really sensitive to Hollywood's bouts with unoriginality. But then Peter wrote the piece "Which Remake/Reboot Are You Looking Forward to the Least," and when my eyes hit his list of those announced in only one month, it hit me: No, we're not exaggerating. There's a lot of frakking reboots and remakes out there. And now we've got one more on the way.

According to Variety, the latest tv show to get the big screen treatment will be none other than the William Shatner mid-eighties police drama T.J. Hooker. No, that’s not a typo, I said T.J. Hooker. Is this another sign of the pending apocalypse or further proof that Hollywood has completely run out of original ideas? Perhaps both.
In case you were not a fan of the original series or its star William Shatner, the show centered on Shatner’s character, a no-nonsense police sergeant who, among other things, bossed around the young and beautiful Heather Locklear, the young and hunky Adrian Zmed and occasionally caught some bad guys in the process. According to Variety [1], Chuck Russell (The Blob, Eraser, The Scorpion King) is in talks to direct, with the screenplay being penned by Brent Maddock and S.S. No director or actors have been set, yet, but Chuck Russell (’Eraser’ and ‘The Scorpion King’) is in talks.
