60 Day Hustle is a reality competition series that features a group of young entrepreneurs competing for a cash prize of $100,000.

It marks the first series for Sonic Gods Studios, formerly known as Sonic Gods Media Agency, which is moving into the entertainment space.

The company, which was founded by Michelle Delamor, Chris Hayman, and Adam Horner, is launching the six-part show on August 8 on Prime Video, although it is not an Amazon original.

It will feature 12 Gen Z and Millennial entrepreneurs into an accelerator program designed to condense two years’ worth of business development into two months. It will be hosted by Rudy Mawer.

Composers wear so many hats when composing and depending on what they’re writing for, whether it’s for episodic TV, film, or video games, it can be a juggling act to get the scores and themes just right. These artists painstakingly put care, effort and hours into what music will accompany the visuals on the little or big screen.

Composer Max Aruj is one such musician. Born and raised in Los Angeles, his previous release is Crawl, produced by Sam Raimi, and directed by Alexandre Aja and the video game Assassin’s Creed – Wrath of the Druids. The idea of marrying the reality-tv staple “Ice Road Truckers” with the suspense classic “The Wages of Fear” — about long-haul drivers trying to get through treacherous mountain roads with a payload of nitroglycerin — isn’t a bad one in theory. In practice, however, “The Ice Road” is so often inept and heavy-handed that not even the reliable presence of Liam Neeson can rescue it.

Neeson has become a genre unto himself in recent years, starring in one movie after another about a regular guy (with a special set of skills) who finds himself in extraordinary circumstances. (This latest is his second in 2021 alone.) Liam Neeson has a simple test he does to see if a script is working for him when he first reads it. “It’s a cup of tea test I do,” says the 69-year-old Irish actor. “If I get to page five and I think, oh, I must put the kettle on for a cup of tea, that’s not a good sign. But occasionally I’ll get a script, like The Ice Road, where I was able to finish it. It felt that good.”

The Ice Road is Neeson’s latest film, arriving this week on Netflix, and it continues his career’s somewhat improbable second act as an action hero. Neeson stars here as Mike McCann, a trucker who is one of several drivers recruited to transport three large, heavy drills to a remote northern Canada mine in order to free miners trapped in a collapse.

Sam Mendes is to receive an honorary fellowship from the UK’s National Film and Television School, presented in London on May 24.

The award will be presented in person by Nfts chairman Patrick McKenna at the Odeon Leicester Square.

In the gap between Black Mirror’s haunting Christmas episode White Christmas, and its first Americanised season on Netflix, I began to notice a lot of news articles pointing out the similarities between real life and the unsettling predictions that Charlie Brooker based his first seven anthology episodes around. Not least a certain situation involving a pig and a Prime Minister.

Eagle-eyed Den Of Geek readers may remember that I wrote an article about that. It was a lot of fun, in a terrified-for-the-future-of-mankind sort of way.

The Forger is the latest star vehicle for John Travolta, a man whose career has had more ups and downs than a yoyo and – judging by this flick – looks set to be forever destined for the direct to DVD market alongside his Face/Off co-star Nicolas Cage (oh the irony). Of course this Isn’T the worst film Travolta has in his ouevre, that’s left to the likes of Battlefield Earth and Chains of Gold, but it’s certainly nothing to shout about.

Travolta stars as the worlds best art forger, banged up in jail with only 10 months to serve, who makes a deal with crime boss Keegan (Anson Mount), to get an early release from prison but in return he must pull of an impossible heist.

The first trailer for Philip Martin’s The Forger arrives today, along with a brand new poster showcasing the film’s leading trio: John Travolta, Christopher Plummer and Tye Sheridan.

In the movie, Travolta stars as master art forger Raymond Cutter, who makes a deal with a crime syndicate to initiate his early release from prison. As a trade, he must embark on an impossible heist; forge a painting by Claude Monet, steal the original from a museum and replace it with a replica so perfect that no one will notice. Along to assist him in this risky mission are his father (Plummer) and son (Sheridan).

The 2014 Toronto Film Festival, which begins Sept. 4, added seven Galas and 17 Special Presentations to its lineup, including a semi-serious Adam Sandler project from Tom McCarthy, the director of The Station Agent and The Visitor. In The Cobbler, Sandler plays a man who has the unique ability to walk in his customers’ shoes. The movie features Dustin Hoffman, who also stars in Boychoir, François Girard’s tale of an orphan’s steep learning curve at a prestigious music school. In Welcome to Me, Kristen Wiig plays a mentally unstable woman who wins the lottery and decides to sink her winnings into a talk show.

Expect to see a bevy of stars on the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival this September. Today, more Gala and Special Presentation titles were announced, with some star-studded projects in the mix. Now, Escobar: Paradise Lost, starring Benicio del Toro as the infamous drug lord, will have its world premiere at Tiff, as will The Forger, with John Travolta, Christopher Plummer and Tye Sheridan.

The Forger is centred on a former child art expert turned thief (Travolta) who buys his way out of prison in order to spend time with his son (Tye Sheridan).

However, he and his father (Plummer) have to complete one last heist to pay the mob who arranged his release.

When I heard about the film Kill the Irishman, I thought Jonathan Hensleigh had it out for me. I liked plenty of Hensleigh’s previous penned films, such as Criterion alumni Armageddon, along with Die Hard With a Vengeance, The Saint (even though this was rewritten to a very bare bones version), Jumanji (I was young once) and even his adaptation of The Punisher with Thomas Jane was a fun present day western, about one man’s loss and getting the revenge he believe he deserves. But after that film failed to make any money at the box office, Hensleigh fell back a bit and made Welcome to the Jungle, a very forgettable film, so much so that it was designated to Dimension Extreme’s home video line. “The Robin Hood of Collingwood” MovieSet.com Exclusive: From the set of ‘The Irishman‘ in Detroit comes a MovieSet exclusive video featuring actor Ray Stevenson who plays the lead character Danny Greene in this real-life story of a mafia conflict in Cleveland.

Amongst clips of the on-set action, Mr. Stevenson discusses the personality of his character saying he was a loner but also very charismatic. He points out that people called Greene “the Robin Hood of Collingwood” as he gave away turkeys at Thanksgiving and Christmas to show that, “It wasn’t about the money, there was a higher goal.”

Stevenson points out that, (unlike other gangster movies) “… these people actually have lives so it kinda matters when they die - even though they are on the wrong side of the law.”

He discusses Greene’s style including green suits, green pens and the importance of the costumes in the film.

Those who come to The Gravedancers expecting the off-the-wall, black-humored insanity of director Mike Mendez’s previous The Convent should be advised: This is a much more straightforward supernatural tale. Which is not to say that Mendez has mellowed, just that here he’s tackling material (a script by Brad Keene and Chris Skinner) which largely takes its horrors seriously. And the energy of his filmmaking hasn’t waned; back when he first announced the project, Mendez compared it to an adult version of the Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland, and once it gets cooking, The Gravedancers does indeed play like a cinematic amusement-park spook ride. Without self-consciously homaging the films of decades ago, it harks back to the days when horror movies had fun scaring you, yet didn’t wink at the camera or employ self-conscious humor to do so.

Rhona Mitra has boarded the indie thriller The Boy in the Box for A2 Entertainment Group and Code Entertainment.

She joins Josh Lucas and Jon Hamm in the film about a small-town police chief (Hamm) determined to discover the truth behind the mummified remains of a boy who was murdered a half-century earlier.

Anders Anderson is directing from a screenplay by Glenn Taranto.

James Van Der Beek (Standing Still), Marcus Thomas (You Kill Me), Jimmy Bennett (Hostage) and Jessica Chastain (Jolene) also have been cast.

Mitra plays the police chief's wife, who is trying to move on after the disappearance of their own son eight years earlier. Lucas plays the father of the murdered boy.

A2's Anderson and Andy Steinman and Code Entertainment's Al Corley, Bart Rosenblatt and Eugene Musso are producing.

Mitra next appears in Rogue Pictures' Doomsday and is about to start production in New Zealand on Underworld: Rise of the Lycans for Screen Gems. Her credits include the features The Number 23 and Skinwalkers and FX's Nip/Tuck.

She is repped by CAA, Jason Weinberg and attorney Warren Dern.
