As we just got an extensive look at Concord at the start of today’s State of Play, the first-ever game made by Sony’s newly acquired Firewalk Studios, many fans have already pointed out the game’s similarities with Overwatch 2.
Despite the game’s pretty visuals and quirky characters, at its core, it is still another hero shooter that the gaming community isn’t too keen on. There are noticeably cool aspects to what was shown, but ultimately, many feel that Sony may have dropped the ball with this one.
In Comes Another Hero Shooter; Concord Fails to Wow Fans of the Dated Genre
Some think that Concord doesn’t do enough to stand out.
Similar to other games in the genre, Concord will feature multiple characters, or heroes, to choose from. The ‘main cast‘ is comprised of the characters Lennox, Haymar, 1-Off, and Star Child, but their generic...

Kiss member Paul Stanley has — for some reason — made a statement on Twitter about his stance on kids’ gender identities and the parents who are “normalizing and even encouraging participation” in embracing them, calling it a “sad and dangerous fad.”
“There is a Big difference between teaching acceptance and normalizing and even encouraging participation in a lifestyle that confuses young children into questioning their sexual identification as though some sort of game and then parents in some cases allow it,” he wrote in an unsolicited “My Thoughts On What I’m Seeing” statement on Sunday.

Much of the world will be spending New Year’s Eve sequestered from one another in quarantine. Kiss, however, will be blowing up 2020 in 100 feet of flames in a lavish, decadent, record-breaking (and Covid-safe) rock & roll livestream in Dubai.

Refresh for updates Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx remembers Eddie Van Halen as “the Mozart of rock guitar,” and Jimmy Kimmel writes that a conversation with the groundbreaking guitarist were “two of the best hours of my life.” Van Halen’s ex-wife, Valerie Bertinelli, simply responded to son Wolf Van Halen’s announcement of the death with a row of broken heart emoji.
Actors, musicians, rock critics and fans of all sorts today are praising and mourning Van Halen, whose innovative, lightning-quick and tap-tap playing took him to the top of guitar great lists and made him a breakout star of early MTV, died today of cancer at 65.
“Heartbroken and speechless,” tweeted Sammy Hagar, who replaced David Lee Roth as the lead singer of the band Van Halen in 1985.
“My heart is broken,” tweeted Kiss cofounder Gene Simmons. “Eddie was not only a Guitar God, but a genuinely beautiful soul.

“Buying Creem was a little bit like buying Playboy,” Jeff Daniels says in the trailer for the upcoming documentary, Creem: America’s Only Rock N’ Roll Magazine. “You didn’t want your parents to see either one of them.” The alternative music magazine debuted in Detroit in 1969 and is credited with inventing the phrase Punk Rock. “It was Rock magazine with a capital R,” Suzi Quatro adds. Creem: America’s Only Rock N’ Roll Magazine will open in select theaters in August. Boy howdy!

Kiss were a year into their End of the Road tour — which will supposedly be their last-ever big outing — when the coronavirus forced them to change their modus operandi. Last Monday, they decided to cancel their nightly meet-and-greets, where they shook hands and posed for pictures with a hundred or more fans a night. Toward the end of the week, they decided to postpone the last three dates of the North American leg of their tour “out of an abundance of caution” until October.

Need a few tips on how to navigate the modern music ecosystem? One option is a conversation with Sam Nelson Harris.
As the frontman for alternative band X Ambassadors, Harris has seen three of his band’s songs hit the top 20 on the pop charts through high-profile placements in commercials, films (2016’s “Sucker for Pain” from “Suicide Squad”) and trailers. The group’s current single, “Boom,” from this summer’s newly released second album “Orion,” hit the rock charts this year on the strength of multiple high-profile synch placements, including ESPN’s 2019 NBA promos.
And as a writer/producer for hire, Harris has seen his stock rise considerably this year after his work on three standout cuts for Lizzo’s blockbuster debut album “Cuz I Love You” and co-writes on seven of the 14 tracks on the all-star compilation “For the Throne: Music Inspired by the HBO Series Game of Thrones,...

It's Father's Day -- and as the rest of us give a big hug to our papa bears ... these famous folks are pretty much doing the exact same thing. Lots of stars took to social media Sunday to celebrate the holiday -- whether that meant honoring their own dads with a selfie, or snuggling up with their kids. Take, for example, Tom Brady -- who's got three children of his own -- cozying up with the tykes in his bed.

Less than two weeks into their End of the Road tour, which finds the band headlining arenas, the group opted for a far more intimate setup in conjunction with SiriusXM and their Kiss Army Radio channel.

Founding Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley posted a scathing Facebook message to Gene Simmons on Tuesday, alleging that Simmons’ statements about Frehley’s alcohol abuse over the years cost him millions and that Simmons had groped his wife. After the allegations, he included a threat: “Without a complete and heartfelt apology, an offer to give me my old job back and removing Tommy [Thayer, guitarist] from the throne I created, the shit will hit the fan and they’ll [sic] be no stopping it. It’s on!!!” He concluded the post with an image...

Walking the Floor goes to space this week, with special guest Ace Frehley — known to Kiss fans as the Spaceman — joining podcast host Chris Shiflett. Together, the two ignore the show’s Americana-leaning format and, instead, geek out over guitar pickups, soloing techniques and Kiss lore.
“Ace Frehley is, without question, the single most important reason why I play guitar,” Shiflett admits during the episode’s pre-interview segment. Perhaps that’s why today’s episode is so spirited. Below, we’ve rounded up some highlights from the pair’s conversation,...

Frehley joined Kiss for four songs, including “Nothing to Lose” and “Rock and Roll All Nite.” The group also performed their cover of the Rolling Stones’ “2000 Man” – which Frehley sang on 1979’s Dynasty – as well as Hello’s “New York Groove,” which Frehley covered on his 1978 solo debut.

Kiss continued to hype their upcoming 2019 farewell tour by performing one of their signature hard-rock hits, “Shout It Out Loud,” on Wednesday’s Late Late Show With James Corden.
The quartet took a relatively stripped-down approach, at least by their own arena-styled standards – only utilizing pyrotechnics during a climactic mini-flourish of fog and flames. The band faithfully recreated the 1976 Destroyer track: Frontman Paul Stanley and bassist Gene Simmons traded off on lead vocals, with Tommy Thayer nailing the guitar solo.

Halloween might as well be a national day of Kiss observance as far as the band is concerned. What better way to officiate your own party than rocking the Tonight Show stage? Kiss brought all the bombastic lasers, pyrotechnics, leather-studded vets, hairy chests and ghoulish clown makeup they’re famous for and played “Love Gun,” a swelling, fist-shaking banger they’ve been serving up live since 1977.
The stadium-worthy set imbued with nostalgia was a preview and buildup to Kiss’s 2019 kiss-off, The End of the Road World Tour, which will commence January in Vancouver.

Kiss’ End of the Road tour might be three months away, but that hasn’t stopped them from telling the public what they can expect from the show. In a series of interviews, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley have promised an expanded set list and a completely reimagined stage set. “We virtually have thrown out everything that has been on stage for the past 10 years, at least, and created a whole new stage and a whole new show,” Paul Stanley said. “We’re not crawling to the finish line; we’re celebrating.
