Project Name: 10,000 Days (Season Two)
Asking For: $150,000 on Kickstarter
Amount Raised Thus Far (At Time Of Post): $11,183
Days Remaining In Campaign (At Time Of Post): 25
Description: With winter approaching, it's time to let it snow. 10,000 Days, a post-apocalyptic web series set during a new ice age, takes place 10,000 days (that's a little more than 27 years) after a cataclysmic comet strike sends the Earth spiraling into ruin.
I first heard about 10,000 Days in 2012, when creator Eric Small released the first season of his show. In his first tour around the wintry landscape he created, Small painted a picture of two warring families battling each other for control. Thrilling action sequence balanced out an intricate plot full of dialogue.
Now, 10,000 Days is back, and Small has a big vision for his second season. He plans to introduce new characters, and he has shared some intense-looking concept art for scenes he plans to film.

Indie Sci-Fi is one of the hardest genres for an aspiring web series auteur to pull off. If you lack the budget of a Nuclear Family or an H+, it's very hard to produce a product that won't seem low-rent or cheesy. Some creators, such as the team behind Star Trek: Renegades, attempt to bring together a TV-quality budget through Kickstarter. Creator Eric Small has other ideas. Small, who is the driving force behind the 10,000 Days web series, is embracing his show's indie stylings. The result is a spacious, bold, ambitious series with big dreams. 10,000 Days takes place 27 years (which, if you don't want to do the math, does equal about 10,000 days) after a huge comet strikes the Earth, sending it careening out of its orbit and plunging the world into a perpetual winter. It's a fairly dubious setup, but who cares; it's merely a gimmick to send up a cold,...

Trailers are an under-appreciated art form insofar that many times they’re seen as vehicles for showing footage, explaining films away, or showing their hand about what moviegoers can expect. Foreign, domestic, independent, big budget: I celebrate all levels of trailers and hopefully this column will satisfactorily give you a baseline of what beta wave I’m operating on, because what better way to hone your skills as a thoughtful moviegoer than by deconstructing these little pieces of advertising? Some of the best authors will tell you that writing a short story is a lot harder than writing a long one, that you have to weigh every sentence. What better medium to see how this theory plays itself out beyond that than with movie trailers?
