Jenna Kanell played the role of Tara in the killer clown horror films Terrifier and Terrifier 2 – and now she has the lead role in a meta horror film called Faceless After Dark, in which she plays an actress who’s best known for her work in a killer clown horror film! Director Jacob Vaughan (Bad Mil0) will pit an expecting couple against an advanced-ai home security system in psychological thriller Home Safe. Per Deadline, Mira Sorvino (“Shining Vale”) has joined the cast as the voice of sentient security system, Kiera.

The Oscar-winning actress stars alongside Felisha Terrell (The Tomorrow War) and Jason MacDonald (“The Vampire Diaries”).

Home Safe centers on “Anna (Terrell), the editor-in-chief of a news magazine, and her husband Daniel (MacDonald), the founder of an AI-centered home security company, are threatened by a mysterious houseguest as they are expecting their first child. Becoming a threat with her growing sentience is Kiera (Sorvino), an advanced-ai home security system created by Daniel.”

The psychological thriller was written by Juddy Talt and also stars Emily Topper (The Thing About Pam) and Michael Shenefelt (The First Lady).

As for when to expect Home Safe, the film has wrapped production and will be taken to market this Fall.

Ben Platt, Tracee Ellis Ross, Daniel Dae Kim, Lola Kirke, Soko, Jermaine Fowler, Ayo Edebiri and Eric Lange have joined B.J. Novak’s new series, now titled “The Premise.”

Premiering on Sept. 16 on FX on Hulu, the half-hour anthology comes from executive producers Novak and Josh Lesher. The first installment’s five episodes — titled “Social Justice Sex Tape,” “Moment of Silence,” “The Ballad of Jesse Wheeler,” “The Commenter” and “Butt Plug” — cover police brutality, sex, gun violence, social media and more.

Exclusive: The Vampire Diaries alum Jason MacDonald is set for a recurring role in Fox’s This Country, Jenny Bicks’ and Paul Feig’s remake of the BBC comedy.

In the half-hour series, a documentary crew goes to a small town to study young adults and their current concerns. Their focus is the daily lives of cousins Kelly (Chelsea Holmes) and Shrub Mallet (Sam Straley) and their idiosyncratic surroundings. Seann William Scott, Aya Cash, Taylor Ortega, YouTuber Krystal Smith and Justin Linville also star.

MacDonald will play Kelly’s (Holmes) father, Bobby.

This Country is based on the eponymous BBC Three series, which ran on the British public broadcaster’s youth-skewing network for three seasons from 2017-20. The BAFTA-winning series, which was written by and starred Daisy May Cooper and Charlie Cooper, was set in the Cotswolds in rural England.

We jumped into Justin’s film festival experience, his day job as an Art Director on Hollywood films like Prisoners (2013), Baby Driver (2017) and First Man (2018), and the pressures of being a parent in the age of social media.

1st Summoning was originally titled The Millbrook Summoning. Now, this indie horror title is slated to release in late February (Digital) and mid April (Blu-ray). In the film, four student filmmakers uncover strange occult practices, in a remote warehouse. Here, they cannot escape what lays in store for them. 1st Summoning is a film from director Raymond Wood (The Canadoo). As well, this title stars: Hayley Lovitt ("Sleepy Hollow"), Jason MacDonald ("The Vampire Diaries"), Teddy Cole and Brook Todd. A preview of the film's home entertainment release is available now. The official trailer shows the four filmmakers and their early interviews. A legend is revealed, which requires a ritual at midnight.
