- Lost her twin sister, Margaret Howell, on July 26, 2000 in Los Angeles, California, USA. She died of ovarian cancer. They both worked together in Scarecrow in a Garden of Cucumbers (1972) and in one episode of Tales from the Crypt (TV Series).

- Was hired by George Lucas to read the role of Shmi in the screen test for three finalists for role of Anakin in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999).
- Was in two films with John Heard, the made-for-television movie, Blown Away (1988) and Richard Donner's Radio Flyer (1992) (deleted scenes.).
- Had her first paid acting job as a teenager in the Outdoor Drama "Unto These Hills" in Cherokee, NC.
- Played Miss Mabel, a backwoods psychic in Ray McKinnon's film Chrystal (2004) which was nominated for Grand Jury Prize at Sundance.
