While the savior of cinema awaits the release of his eighth Mission Impossible film, Tom Cruise is reportedly hoping to recapture the success of Top Gun: Maverick with a sequel to another classic action film of his. The actor is reportedly in talks with Paramount to develop a sequel to his racing film Days of Thunder by Tony Scott.
While Cruise has cracked the formula for crafting action blockbusters with a heart, he might have jumped the gun on this one. The racing genre has been quite popular in the past few years, with Formula One racing gaining fans after Netflix’s Drive to Survive. The actor also sees competition from Brad Pitt’s F1 film.

Tom Cruise is one of the most legendary Hollywood veterans of all time, having delivered more than just some extraordinary performances and being the recipient of innumerable awards and nominations. For one who made his debut in 1981 through Endless Love, he found his breakthrough sooner than most – within two years – after starring in 1983’s Risky Business.

Since then, the majority of his career has been all merry for him as Cruise made his way through action flicks that launched him as the king of action. And yet, the actor’s lifestyle choices despite having brought to the table a film that made $800 million worldwide are so humble that even young industry starters like Glen Powell and Timothée Chalamet should learn a lesson from it.

Rebecca Ferguson broke the hearts of Mission: Impossible fans when she exited the Tom Cruise-led franchise in the seventh film. It was a very final exit as the fan-favorite Ilsa Faust meets her end in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning. While Ferguson clarified her stance on why she couldn’t continue as Ilsa, there appear to be more reasons that contributed to her exit.

Before production had begun on the anticipated film adaptation of Enid Blyton‘s The Magic Faraway Tree, director Ben Gregor worried that he’d put one of his stars, Andrew Garfield, off a little bit.
“We wrote a song for the film and we sent it to Andrew early on,” Gregor explains to The Hollywood Reporter. “And I hadn’t worked with him yet and you don’t know… With actors sometimes, you can put them off.”
But Garfield loved it. The gesture ended up being instrumental in the atmosphere that Gregor later cultivated on set — one of true-heartedness, trust, and that crucial Blyton ingredient: magic. “Everybody was putting themselves out there,” Gregor says.
The project has grabbed headlines in recent months for releasing back-to-back smash hit casting announcements: first came Garfield and Claire Foy (The Crown), then came Nicola Coughlan (Bridgerton, Derry Girls) and Jessica Gunning (Baby Reindeer), and...

Warner Bros. and the “Dune: Part Two” team are not backing down from their Oscar ambitions, still hoping for recognition for Hans Zimmer’s powerful score.
As first reported by Variety in October, Zimmer’s music for Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi epic faced a speed bump when an independent review questioned whether the score met the Academy’s eligibility standards. However, it had not been officially submitted at the time. The issue arose because Zimmer’s score includes thematic elements from his Academy Award-winning work on 2021’s “Dune,” which could potentially exceed the limit for pre-existing music allowed under the Academy’s guidelines.
Despite these concerns, Variety has now learned exclusively that Warner Bros. has officially submitted Zimmer’s composition for Academy consideration, hopeful that his innovative contributions to the film will meet the requirements and earn a nomination.
The Academy’s Music Branch and other committees have not reviewed the submission.

In Hollywood, sometimes off-set dramas capture more attention and scrutiny than on-set ones. Meet Me Next Christmas is the latest in the ever-expanding collection of Netflix Christmas movies. Over the last several years, the streamer has gotten deep into the Christmas movie game. They still have some work to do to catch up to Hallmark, at least in terms of quantity (Hallmark is premiering 32 new Christmas-themed movies this year!). But the Netflix Christmas movies have a very similar vibe. They’re cheesy, corny, fluffy, cute, predictable. They’re comfort food movies, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. Enter Meet Me Next Christmas.

Christian Bale explains why he turned down a fourth Batman movie to respect Nolan’s vision (Photo Credit – Facebook)
He boldly moved when Christian Bale hung up his cape after The Dark Knight Rises. He turned down a fourth Batman film pitched by Warner Bros., sticking to Christopher Nolan’s vision for the trilogy. “Let’s not stretch too far and become overindulgent,” he declared, and honestly, who could argue with that?
The Dark Knight trilogy was no ordinary collection. It redefined what comic book movies could be, raking in $2.4B worldwide. Bale’s portrayal of Bruce Wayne/Batman was phenomenal, and each film built on the last like a perfectly constructed Gotham skyscraper. The final movie left audiences with a poignant image: Bruce Wayne chilling in Florence with Selina Kyle (Anne Hathaway). A killer way to exit, right? But hold on—studios weren’t ready to let their golden goose fly away.

Kevin Feige discusses casting Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man and how it redefined the MCU (Photo Credit – Facebook/Wikimedia)
Casting Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man was Marvel’s legit roll of the dice—and it changed stuff. Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige calls it the “biggest risk,” a move that could’ve sunk the MCU before it launched. In 2008, Downey’s past struggles made him an unconventional choice. However, director Jon Favreau and Feige saw his charisma as perfect for Tony Stark’s genius and flaws. As Feige put it, “The risk was not casting him.” Now? It’s clear: Downey defined the MCU.
At the time, Marvel Studios wasn’t the entertainment powerhouse it is today. The studio was taking a chance on a lesser-known character to lead the way. Feige knew Iron Man had potential, but finding the right actor was crucial. Downey’s name was considered,...

Since Netflix shook up the film and series world, tons of other streaming options have popped up. Over time, they’ve all developed their own original content, which has helped each platform stand out. The problem is that Apple TV+ seems to have dropped the ball here. Sure, creating original shows is great, but they still need to be promoted.

Was Tom Cruise obsessed with Mission Impossible Co-star? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Tom Cruise’s relationship with Nicole Kidman was one of Hollywood’s iconic love stories. From being the industry’s power couple in the 90s, they were married for over a decade, and their on and off-screen chemistry was unforgettable. Cruise found himself with Rebecca Ferguson in Mission: Impossible years after their split. Since the actor has always garnered much attention for his personal life, he reportedly grew to have an infatuation with Ferguson.
Although Cruise has always desired privacy in his personal life, his off-screen romance with Ferguson didn’t go unnoticed by his fans. As per the National Enquirer, the Top Gun actor was drawn to Ferguson because she highly resembled his ex-wife, Kidman. The source also suggested that what caught Cruise’s attention with Ferguson was a scene similar to one Kidman had done in the past.

Silo tells the story of life deep underground after a mysterious global catastrophe. The show takes place primarily in a massive structure known as Silo 18, where 10,000 people live confined to the cramped circular levels of their underground home. Strict rules are followed to maintain order, yet many secrets remain about the outside world and why the inhabitants live as they do.
In Season 1, a curious engineer named Juliette began quietly investigating discrepancies she found at work. Her probing raised difficult questions about the truth of their circumstances. When her investigation went too far, Juliette was punished by being sent outside.
There, she discovered the apocalyptic reality of the barren wasteland stretching beyond the hills. Now, in Season 2, Juliette’s exile has thrust her into the unknown while unrest grows back in the silo without her stabilizing presence.
This season develops the intriguing premises and characters set up before. Juliette finds...

Following that doozy of a cliffhanger last year, Silo finally returns to Apple TV+ with a second season that, thankfully, rewards the wait. The first season established some captivating foundations: based on Hugh Howey's book trilogy, it charted the aftermath of an apocalyptic event, which forced thousands to co-exist in a strictly governed underground bunker known as the silo. This second instalment — which adapts parts of Howey’s books Wool and Shift — further fleshes out the mythos while introducing fascinating new additions.
Creator and showrunner Graham Yost instantly turns the temperature up on this pressure-cooker of a dystopia. In the fallout of Jules (Rebecca Ferguson) being banished from the silo, tensions quickly boil over between Mayor Bernard Holland (Tim Robbins) and his cronies. Where the first season took a more procedural route, unravelling the central slow-burn mystery, this second run takes a more action-packed approach,...

The Peaky Blinders movie continues to build buzz and here’s a first look of Saltburn star Barry Keoghan, who joins the cast for the feature.
Keoghan, who can be seen above looking very ‘peaky’ as he gazes out a truck window, is one of a host of new names for the upcoming movie, which rolled cameras in September. He has broken out in the past couple of years with a string of big roles including Saltburn, Masters of the Air and Top Boy. He was Oscar-nominated for Martin McDonagh’s The Banshees of Inisherin.
Keoghan joins the likes of Tim Roth, Rebecca Ferguson as new to Steven Knight’s franchise. Rejoining the cast are the likes of Cillian Murphy, Stephen Graham and Sophie Rundle, who played Ada, sister to Oscar-winner Murphy’s Birmingham clan leader Tommy Shelby. In the series finale, Tommy handed the reins of the family business to Ada.

Marco van Belle’s Irish female vampire origin feature Feed has begun shooting in Ireland’s coastal region of County Wexford, which also recently hosted the shoot of Small Things like These, as Metro International Entertainment continues sales at AFM.
The film follows a group of twenty something social media influencers who spend a weekend at a remote contemporary house in an Irish forest, and must fight for their lives when they awaken the world’s original vampire from her slumber. Van Belle previously wrote sci-fi Mercy starring Chris Pratt, Rebecca Ferguson, Annabelle Wallis, which is currently in post-production.
It gathers an ensemble cast of emerging Irish and UK talent, including Grace Collender (Fréwaka), Clinton Liberty Daisy Jelley, Niamh Hogan, Rhys Mannion and Oskar Smith.
Feed takes its cue from the Irish myth of the Dearg Due, which also inspired Irish writer Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’.
Writer and director Van Belle previously wrote sci-fi Mercy starring Chris Pratt, Rebecca Ferguson, Annabelle Wallis, which is currently in post-production.
“With people using social media to make their mark and get rich quick, I’m fascinated to explore the fragility of modern influencer culture by putting our characters against a ruthless creature that has the true power of influence,” said the director
Producers are Ripple World’s Jac Kerrin and Dominic Wright, with Big Safari’s Richard Kondal and Tianna Roberts as UK co-producers.
Niamh Fagan is Executive Producer for Screen Ireland/Fís Éireann, who are providing production finance and financed development. Creativity Capital is providing production finance, with Patrick Fischer executive producing.
Will Machin, Sam Parker and Michael Yates are Executive Producers for Metro International Entertainment who are handling international sales and will launch the film to buyers at the AFM.

By order of the Peaky Blinders — and Netflix — here is a first look at Barry Keoghan in the upcoming “Peaky Blinders” film.
The image, released Friday, shows the Oscar nominee leaning outside of a car window — and yes, he’s donning the trademark Peaky Blinders newsboy cap, so we can safely assume he’s part of Tommy Shelby’s (Cillian Murphy) gang. Keoghan joined the project in August. No details about his character have been released.
In September, Keoghan told Entertainment Weekly that he was “excited and nervous” to be part of “Peaky Blinders” and is a “massive, massive fan” of the show. “I can’t wait for that,” he said. “Cillian’s a good friend and I f—ing admire him as an actor as well.”

The second season of the Apple TV+ streaming series Silo proves one undeniable truth — this Rebecca Ferguson-led show is the best science fiction adventure series since Lost! A suspenseful, layered masterwork, Silo presents world-building at its finest.
With a stellar cast besides Ferguson, which includes Tim Robbins, Common, and Harriet Walter, this Graham Yost’s (Justified) dystopian drama, based on the novel series by Hugh Howey, uses its science fiction trappings as a backdrop to study our humanity. The second season of Silo is constantly surprising, gripping, and simply riveting from start to finish!

Quentin Tarantino does not care about Lisan al Gaib.
More specifically, the Pulp Fiction filmmaker recently said he has no interest in watching fellow colleague Denis Villeneuve’s Dune adaptations, as he views them as symptomatic of Hollywood’s overreliance on remixing old IP (usually in a bid to mitigate risk and maximize profit).
“I saw [David Lynch’s original adaptation of] ‘Dune’ a couple of times,” he told Bret Easton Ellis (American Psycho) on his self-titled podcast. “I don’t need to see that story again. I don’t need to see spice worms. I don’t need to see a movie that says the word ‘spice’ so dramatically.”
The Oscar winner continued, listing other titles he has shrugged off because their material draws from trodden ground.

The year is almost over, but 2024 has plenty of sci-fi and fantasy goodness to serve us before we ring in a new one. Below, check out some of the biggest movies and TV shows worth checking out in November, with an emphasis on the strange, the wondrous and the fantastical:
Arcane season 2: November 9 (Netflix)
The second and final season of Netflix's Emmy-winning animated series Arcane drops this November, and it promises to have even more magic, bloodshed, and brutal twists and turns than the first. This show may be based off the League of Legends video game, but don't let that fool you; Arcane has a story that's on par with anything the genre has to offer. It primarily follows two sisters, the bruiser Vi (Hailee Steinfeld) and chaotic criminal Jinx (Ella Purnell), as they are torn from their humble roots and pitted against each other in a devastating class war.

At the end of 2021’s “Dune,” Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atriedes looks out across the desert in awe as he sees a Fremen of Arrakis riding a sandworm.
It was a tease of what was to come from director Denis Villeneuve in this year’s “Dune: Part Two.” Paul and his mother Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) immerse themselves in Fremen culture in the sequel, and the sandworm ride is a coming-of-age ritual. Paul riding a massive worm would be his ascension to power. The white-knuckled sequence where Paul mounts one and rides across the desert was something cinematographer Greig Fraser had to get right.
Speaking to Variety for the Inside the Frame series, Fraser explains “This is his journey of becoming accepted by the Fremen. It’s a journey that has come a long way up to this point. There is some part of the Fremen community that believes he’s going to die,...

In 2010, AMC Networks premiered The Walking Dead, an apocalyptic series that aired for 12 years across 11 seasons. Based on the comics created by Robert Kirkman, the series became wildly popular, beyond what anyone could have imagined, and has inspired other series within the genre.
The Walking Dead has been praised for its earliest and final seasons, with mixed reviews for its seventh and eighth seasons. While it is set in an undead apocalypse, the stories revolve around the survivors and their experiences after the outbreak occurred. Many viewers note this is why the series became so popular.
Long-standing cast members for the series include Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, Seth Gilliam, Ross Marquand, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Several of these characters' stories have continued in the long line of spinoffs of the main series. Let's check out some...

Mike Flanagan with Rebecca Ferguson from Doctor Sleep – now adapting the Stephen King novel, Carrie [Image @flanaganfilm on Instagram]
Mike Flanagan is renowned for his horror TV shows and is once again teaming up with Stephen King for an adaptation of Carrie.
Carrie was Stephen King’s first published book and nearly didn’t happen. However, after he threw it into the garbage, his lovely wife, Tabitha King, rescued it and encouraged him to publish the terrifying book. Of course, there have been many more King books published, and while may be in the past, horror maestro Mike Flanagan is returning to Stephen King’s world to adapt Carrie as a series on the small screen.
Mike Flanagan to adapt Stephen King’s Carrie as an Amazon TV series
Admittedly, Stephen King fans will feel a little trepidation over the adaptation of the author’s popular book, as many have not done his work justice.

One of the year’s most anticipated and epic musical scores won’t be in the running for an Academy Award.
Warner Bros.’ “Dune: Part Two,” directed by Denis Villeneuve, was met with critical acclaim when it hit theaters in March. Both critics and audiences lauded the film’s visuals, storytelling, and, most notably, the music score by Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer. However, Zimmer’s powerful and evocative score for the sci-fi epic is not eligible to be submitted for this year’s Oscars due to surpassing the Academy’s limit on pre-existing music; therefore, it cannot be nominated in the best original score category.
The Academy’s rule states: “In cases such as sequels and franchises from any media, the score must not use more than 20% of pre-existing themes and music borrowed from previous scores in the franchise.” Since Zimmer’s composition for “Dune: Part Two” incorporates substantial...
