Eight for Silver is a horror movie that was originally released in 2021 under the title The Cursed. Directed by Sean Ellis, it stars Boyd Holbrook, Kelly Reilly, and Alistair Petrie and takes place in the late 19th century, centring around a small village in France where a series of brutal murders have taken place. The locals are convinced that a pack of wolves is responsible for the killings, but a British pathologist, John McBride (Holbrook), arrives to investigate and discovers that something far more sinister is at play.

One of the strengths of Eight for Silver is its visual style. The movie is shot in a dark, atmospheric manner that perfectly captures the eerie and foreboding mood of the story.

Centred on a chaotic family coming to terms with an autism diagnosis, the Israeli comedy-drama “Yellow Peppers” never aired on British television, but it’s had a pronounced influence on British TV schedules over the past decade. First, it begat Peter Bowker’s direct adaptation “The A Word,” which over three series relocated several of its predecessor’s storylines to a picturesque Lake District setting, achieving the holy-grail combo of excellent reviews and high ratings for the BBC before finding a transatlantic home on Sundance TV.

Now “The A Word” generates its own variation in “Ralph & Katie,” a six-part spin-off charting the further adventures of soccer-mad Ralph (Leon Harrop) and his baker beloved Katie (Sarah Gordy). BBC One’s The A Word spin-off Ralph & Katie, which was created by a group of disabled writers overseen by Peter Bowker, has entered production in Manchester and the Lake District.

The six-parter from ITV Studios, Keshet Productions and Tiger Aspect, which follows the two beloved A-Word characters played by Leon Harrop and Sarah Gordy, has also unveiled cast including Gogglebox narrator Craig Cash, Dylan Brady (Get Even), Jamie Marie Leary (Traces), Sam Retford (Screw) and Daniel Cerqueira (Pennyworth). Returning actors from Bowker’s The A Word include Pooky Quesnel, Nigel Betts and Matt Greenwood.

The groundbreaking show is the UK’s first to feature an all-disabled writers’ room, with five writers overseen by World On Fire creator Bowker.

School is back in session and BBC Three is sharing its notes on its upcoming Doctor Who spinoff series, Class. The first two episodes premiere on Saturday, October 22, 2016. A world premiere has been scheduled for Thursday, October 20th, at Rich Mix -- the home of Coal Hill Academy, Shoreditch. Doors open at 6:00pm. Metro.co.uk reports Paul Marc Davis has landed a recurring role in the upcoming Class TV series -- the newest spin-off of Doctor Who. Davis has previously appeared in Doctor Who, Torchwood, and The Sarah Jane Adventures. We previously reported the current Doctor, Peter Capaldi may also have a Class cameo.

As of this writing, the BBC has not publicized the addition of Davis to the Class cast. The story broke on Twitter, when the user Ruther posted a photo of Davis's online CV. Check it out, below. Davis joins the cast, pictured above, which as of this writing includes: Vivian Oparah, Greg Austin, Sophie Hopkins, Fady Elsayed, and Katherine Kelly. Nigel Betts is also reportedly on board.

The fate of Class - the Doctor Who spinoff - is still up in the air. If it does come back, it won't be with its creator...

Class, the Doctor Who spin-off created by young adult author Patrick Ness, which is set within the alien-attracting Who location Coal Hill School, has not yet been renewed for a second series.

Over the weekend, a major blow was dealt to the show's future: Ness, the creator and head writer of Class, officially parted ways with the series.

He broke the news with a series of Tweets, saying this on social media...

BBC Two's new sitcom Boy Meets Girl, touted as the first British comedy to prominently feature transgender characters, has begun filming.

The comedy follows Leo, who has a terrible day when he is fired from his job, given a hard time by his mother and forced to play gooseberry to his brother on a night out. However, his luck changes when he meets older woman Judy.

Leo finds himself deeply attracted to Judy and arranges to meet her again. Although his mother is unhappy about the age gap between the pair, Leo doesn't care what she thinks because he knows he has met somebody very special.

Harry Hepple (Misfits, Hustle) will play Leo, Rebecca Root (Normal) will play Judy and Denise Welch (Waterloo Road, Benidorm) is Leo's mother Pam.

The cast also includes Janine Duvitski (Benidorm), Nigel Betts (Emmerdale), Lizzie Roper (Hollyoaks) and Jonny Dixon (Coronation Street).

A sitcom has two primary jobs in terms of becoming a success: to build a world viewers will want to continue spending time in, and to make them laugh. The former is perhaps the more daunting task, but both are nebulous, hard to measure, and difficult to figure out in advance. British television is often vaunted as superior to its American counterpart, but if American TV has one advantage, it is that the increased episode orders on network television give American sitcoms time to find themselves in their first season. You, Me & Them, the new sitcom from writer/creator Steve Turner, does a decent job at building out a world and cast of characters worth spending time with, but in its six-episode first season, it all too often forgets to be funny.

Robert Portal makes a welcome return to the role of Richard Hannay in Patrick Barlow's adaptation of The 39 Steps, directed by Maria Aitken, currently in its third year at the Criterion Theatre. On Monday 2 February he joined the current cast members Tessa Churchard, Alan Perrin and Nigel Betts in this hilarious 100 minute whodunnit. Robert Portal first played Hannay from April to October 2007. Since that time the production has enjoyed incredible UK and international success and he returns to a role which is currently played by 14 actors in as many countries across the world.
