- The awards were called 'The Clares' for the first year after Clare Mendionca, the Filmfare film critic.
- The statuette was also made in silver for the 25th year of the awards.
- Being the indian equivalent to the 'Oscars', these awards are now presented in over 30 categories which include all forms of regional cinema as well.
