Lirael by Garth Nix

Amy’s first review of the year

really liked it
This was definitely slower than I recall from earlier reads but I think I’m also a decade+ older and the depressed teenager is tougher to scrounge up sympathy. Still it’s a great sequel to Sabriiel - one that expands the world, pulls in characters and ups the stakes. It was disappointing at first not to pick up where the previous one left off (we jump forward 14years) but it works well.
This time around I feel significantly more for the Southerlin

The Woman in Me by Britney Spears

Amy’s last review of the year

it was amazing
After the conservatorship, I could eat chocolate again.

I made the mistake of returning this audiobook before snagging the (many) bookmarked quotes that jumped out at me but the one I remember above is a fine example of a few words that packs one of the many emotional punches that hit throughout this brief book and underscores the awful injustices perpetrated against this woman by so many.
