I decided to read the book because the title was intriguing, but I didn't have high hopes, since this isn't my typical genre preference. I was mistaken in my expectations: the book blew me away. The mystery of why Evelyn chose Monique wasn't the main point of the book, but it was an excellent story thread that kept pulling me forward. Evelyn and her relationships felt so real.
