For your suggestions of books featuring people engaged in athletics (running, jumping, pole vaulting, or throwing javelin, hammer, discus, or shot put). Any book where somebody runs will work, so this shouldn't be a difficult one!

Just came across running in my current read: The Golden Spoon by Jessa MaxwellOne of the characters goes out for a run. Enjoyed the book -- light and funny with a cool baking competition setting.

I meant to include them all. Running and jumping cover a lot. I will add hammer throw and pole vault. Did you think anything else was missed?
I think that covers it. I just happened to read a short story that involved a pole vault(er), which is why I asked. :)
