Fairest: A Memoir

I read this in a rainy day. It was so poorly written and repetitive and Meredith is basically a bitter elitist snob, who may have a personality disorder (the professional way of saying : asshole). Her concept of womanhood is purely on the physical, and she clearly has no concept of sisterhood for the way she treats her one female friend. She seems to be angry at white men, but she embraces and chases them so completely and obsessively she doesn’t even see them as human really, so casually she’s willing to hurt them in her desire to have them.
A thoroughly unpleasant person with an outsized sense of self, this author does not have the empathy or ability to express the complexity of identities such as trans , queer and immigrant , because she is incapable of seeing herself objectively.
I think ‘Passing’ by Nora Larsen presents far more subtle and empathetic perspective on identity. Read that.
