This book... Wow.
I was worried after the lack of plot in the first book, that I would be bored with this one. There is just so much character introduction I can handle... However, I shouldn't have worried, this book took the next obvious step and focused on developing those characters and it was GLORIOUS.
We get more time with the Named Men. We see the war with the north in all its gory detail. We move with Glokta to a new city and enjoy a little bit of mystery and espionage. And we go along with Bayaz and his group in a journey.
And what an adventure that was! It's amazing to see how well Abercrombie does character development! Jezal stops being a pompous ass. Bayal is knocked from his pedestal and finally opens up about stuff. Ferro stops wanting to kill everyone... well, she stops wanting to kill one person in particular.
I cannot wait for the next book!
