A Rose Among Thorns (Hall of Thorns, #1)

I was so happy to begin this series by Ash Fitzsimmons. I love how she blends magic with real-world-ish events in her novels. A Rose Among Thorns takes place in a nursery, which is a fun place for magical shenanigans! After all, many fantasy books feature plants as magical devices or sources for potions. I also empathize with Rose because I do not have a green thumb. I can keep my succulents and banana tree alive, but I often feel helpless around plants. She is, in short, relatable.
I also appreciated how the author paced the novel. She drops action and humor in just the right places. She moves the story along, but the events never seem rushed or artificial. I appreciate this flow because it allows me to stay fully immersed in the text. I cannot wait to begin the next book in the series!
