(A-) 83% | Very Good
Notes: Despite a weak climax, it's a delightful read: an excellent introduction to its richly layered, wildly imaginative world.

Yes, I sort of feel the same. For the first half to two-thirds of this book, I legitimately thought it was one of the best things I'd ever read. Then it sort of just ended on a whimper. Still wonderful though :)

Thanks a lot, Anna! I'm always meaning to do a re-read of the series, but I'm never in the right frame of mind. Happy to see you had a good time with it this second go-round :)

I understand - I tend to be a mood reader. This is my first time re-reading the series (excluding book 6 & 7), so I'm very excited to enter this world again. ^_^

That's great to hear, Anna! Whenever I think of re-reading this I always decide not to because I'm not in the mood for a seven book saga. I wouldn't be able to just read the first one or stop partway.

Yes, I totally agree with that! There's not a book in the series that I thought took a step down from the one before it. It all built very well, and not only aged with its protagonists, but with its readership as well. I doubt it could have reached such broad an audience had it started with the tone of the last three or four books.

I read it when i was maybe 6/7 years old..I still read it whenever i get time...it still captures my heart like the first time...😊

I'm happy to hear that, Rajeswari! It's wonderful there's a book that makes you feel that way :)

That's even better. Often times we get worked up by books, and so it's nice to have a series to fall back on, every so often, and get carried away by :)

I’m so scared to read this novel. For so many people this was their childhood and I’m so afraid I won’t love the novels. I have seen the movies and while the movies are good I don’t get those feelings for the films so I’m like Will I for the book? I own the book so it will happen someday haha.

Yeah, I get how you feel. There's several books for me like that. It's the reason I still haven't read The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings, though I own them. But no need to get too anxious about it. If you happen not to like it, or at least not as much as you expected, it's a conversation starter. People have opinions about it and want to talk :)

I enjoyed the books more than the movies. The books are more "detailed" and I don't get the same "awe" from the movies that I got from reading the books. It happened more than once while reading the books that I just thought " how in the world does she get the imagination for all this"!!

Yes, I totally agree with that, Alla. I saw the first four movies first before reading the books, and didn't think they were anything spectacular, but the books really blew me away when I got to them.

I've actually never been to Europe, but if I do find myself in London I'll have to make a point to visit it :)

I haven't yet. I may do a reread with them once they're all released. With Harry Potter I'd have to read the whole thing, and can't just stop at book three or read different editions in the same run. I do plan to have my next reread be with the audiobooks.

Yes, dude, I put this on twice.

I mean exactly what I said. I don't believe this is a very complicated review at all. If you're wondering about the weak climax part, read messages 17-20 of this thread.
