really liked it

Beautiful prose from Michaels a Canadian poet, the novel could almost be a long prose poem. She creates an moving and elegiac atmosphere that draws you in. Philosophical and psychological portrayals of connection, love and loss, mortality and spirituality meet scientific musings. I would have liked the novel to be a bit less episodic. The reader has to be fairly tolerant of ambiguity as the novel moves between times, locations and characters and it can take time to understand the connections.
