Skye has made choices in her life to make sure her theatre career is a successful one. But when her aunt passes, she drops everything to fulfill her last wishes. Warring with lots of feelings, she packs up and travels to Scotland to arrange for her aunt to be buried with her parents in a military cemetery. Cue a run in, and take down, of veteran Captain Jet Dalry in the Royal Scots office. And another one. And another. These two keep getting thrown in each other's paths until they finally stop fighting fate and team up to accomplish everything they want.
Sound good? Oh but there's more. Magic! ✨
Skye's aunt also left her a journal and Luckenbooth locket. One that keeps heating up and transporting her through time to both her own past and her aunt's. Meanwhile, weird things are happening at the theatre. Can you figure it all out what that's all about before the ending reveals it all?
When I saw it at a book fair last summer, it called to me (🤔...magic?) and I needed to read it. Then in typical fashion, it took me a year to actually pick it up. Then I couldn't put this book down, it was so good! The flashbacks, while essential to the story and very very interesting, kind of broke up the plot for me but I'm never a huge fan of multiple timelines to begin with. But the chemistry between the characters and the adventures they embark on balanced it out well.
