A good solid primer on Beckett's thoughts and philosophies as portrayed in his works of fiction, poetry and plays. Very easy to read and digest. Goes into enough detail about specific works that you feel you are gaining something that can be used when reading them, and yet also general enough to apply to all of Beckett's works across the board. Very glad I picked this up and will almost certainly move on to Calder's other Beckett book on his theological beliefs.
