1.75 stars for this book. i probably should have DNF'd but I was intrigued, and you know what? the ending was satisfying. it was tense and mysterious, and overall, I was interested enough to keep going. i liked marta's point of view - she was a much more interesting character than jade. but unfortunately, most of the book was told from jade's pov.
i saw someone say that jade deserved everything that came her way and tbh, I agree. this girl was fat-phobic, stupid, and ultimately, a liar. she had no initiative in her life whatsoever, and let herself be conned and trapped by silly lil Isaac (who btw had nothing charming about him, how did all these woman fall for his crap?) marta, on the other hand, had a better relationship with him and it made sense why she became his maid. she was smart enough to catch on to what was happening.
overall, the pace was slow, especially the first half. the second half was much quicker and easier to get through. the writing of the book was so amateur. the author literally says "OMG. WTF." when something crazy happens. not to mention all the fatphobic writing??!! like what?
wouldn't recommend this book. not even for a quick trashy read on the beach.
