One of the best modern fairy tale collections! The twelve stories are very diverse, have unique twists, add to the original tale, and some are even heartbreaking. It's sad that it is over so soon, I would have loved to read even more stories.
Average rating: 3.9/5 🌟
Individual ratings:
4/5 🌟 Red Riding Hood: Every year the prettiest girl in town is to be sacrificed to the wolves.
3/5 🌟 Snow White: This Black Snow White is not as naive as you might think.
3/5 🌟 Sleeping Beauty: A beautiful boy wakes up with small red-rimmed wounds every day...
4/5 🌟 Rapunzel: Love is not as simple as it might seem.
3/5 🌟 Jack and the Beanstalk: An interesting twist on family dynamics and gender roles.
5/5 🌟 Hansel and Gretel: This retelling set in India shows you who the real witch is. It's so good! 😍
5/5 🌟 Beauty and the Beast: This one puts 'Belle' in a whole different light. And the ending made me cry. 😢
3/5 🌟 Bluebeard: Orphan boys get sold to Bluebeard but our mc might have a dark side.
4/5 🌟 Cinderella: What if Cinderella was not his true love after all? Prepare for a talking mouse and a Russian witch. Very cute and funny!
5/5 🌟 The Little Mermaid: The sea witch and the little mermaid have a deep talk. Love the ending! ❤
3/5 🌟 Rumpelstiltskin: Well, none of these people are truly good. It's a shame, really.
5/5 🌟 Peter Pan: In which Wendy is searching for love. This was heartbreaking and made me sob. So sad! 😭

"It's time to read the last book by Soman Chainani! After that, I will have to wait for something new to be released.
I already love how it starts: "On the first day of spring, the wolves eat the prettiest girl.""
