[4+] With striking prose, Akbar writes about Cyrus, a lost young man and a recovering addict who hopes to find inspiration from his mother's short life. The novel weaves in and out of present and past and I often felt unsteady - never felt sure where I was being taken or if it would make sense in the end. This novel hits hard - the scenes of Cyrus in the Brooklyn Museum are seared in my brain and heart. And by the end, it came together but not wrapped up with a bow...

Always interested in your take on newer releases. I've been seeing this one around lately and am intrigued. Love your description of it and will put on my audio TBR (which is long and varied) and hope it pops up before I forget how great you made it sound.
