Giving this book 4 stars solely for that one character (which I realised I technically can't name because it would be spoilers? Kinda?) and for the plot twist. Did I predict the plot twist in the first book? Yes, but I still think it's a very interesting and, honestly, clever story line to explore in a prequel duology to grip the reader because it gives an entire new perspective to the original series.

However, objectively it is definitely not worth 4 stars.

(view spoiler)[I decided I can't not mention the very questionable and weird decision the author made regarding Rhian's sexuality. Because for the entire two books, Rhian is shown to only be interested in men and in terms of him talking about attraction, he exclusively talks about men. But we know that in the original series (meaning centuries in the future) he pursues women. I guess the author remembered that and wrote that prophecy scene with Marialena at the end but because Rhian's initial reaction was to completely reject that he would love a woman makes it seem as though Rhian will work to change his sexuality in coming years? I don't know? I mean, he could've made him bi or something. It's very weird either way but this especially feels very wrong. (hide spoiler)]
