I’d like to start this off by saying: REBECCA QUINN FOR PRESIDENT
In the time it took me to read this book, I’d been wrecked, put back together, only to be thoroughly wrecked all over again.
One of my favorite things about this series is that Rebecca writes survival tips as chapter headers. They make me laugh every time. Also, the genuine care that she takes with mental health awareness and kink education. A queen in her own right 👸
I feel like the first point of focus for me was Eden’s will to live. It was inspiring. Above everything else, she fought, and she survived. She has officially earned her spot in my top favorite FMC’s of all time.
Aside from the inspiration, I cackled like a witch more often than not during this read. I mean… Jasper casually throwing out therapist evaluations while the guys fight? Iconic. And Lucky!!! Lucky takes the proverbial cake for class clown. Such a golden retriever. I love him 😭
By the way? I’m starting a Jayk fan club. Anyone want to join? Fill out an application. I swear this man makes my pulse flutter, in my chest and… well, you know 😏 “Don’t be an ass, Jayk. You’re already mine.” <—— explains him quite nicely, don’t you think?
And BEAUUUU?!?!?!?! I mean 😭 “Hey there darlin’. You up for a cuddle?” A true king.
And just thinking about the amount of trouble that Eden and Lucky could get into with Jasper has me frothing at the mouth. Absolutely feral.
(Side note: did anyone else learn more about themselves during Jasper’s talks with Eden? Bc same girlfriend.)
And Dom is just all around yummy. Coincidence that our most brutish dom is named Dom? I think not. (See the first line of this review.)
God is a woman, and that woman is Rebecca Quinn 🛐 I mean come on! The complexity of these characters—every last one of them—astounds me. They’re all sheer perfection. Nothing about them has been rushed and you can tell that Rebecca poured her blood, sweat, tears, heart and soul into each and every one of them.
Overall, this book has been my most anticipated read of the year, and it DID NOT disappoint. I can’t wait for the third book!!! Don’t mind me, I’ll just be sitting on pins and needles while I wait.
And, just for shits and giggles, here are some of my fav—non-spoiler—quotes:
“I need to outwit a dullard.”
“You can only be frightened of emptiness after you know what it is to be full.”
“I killed your herd.” <—— Epic. Absolutely epic.
“Survival Tip #144: Fear the fury of a woman who has nothing left to lose.”
“It is not a crime to be human.”
“We can’t change the things that happen to us—only change what they help us to become.”
“Maybe this feeling isn’t forever. Maybe this is just now.”
