A Single Lily Waits: A Collection of Poems

"I have drawn out an escape route that I
Keep tucked away in my mind, neatly tied
With a delicate noose, a dangerous
Comfort that ignites a forgotten lust
For life."
A Single Lily Waits, by Taura Wildes, is beautifully dark collection that dives into traumas many of us would rather forget, drudging them up like the buried dead, laid bare for all to see. Raw, emotive and powerful, Wildes manages to distill the beauty lost in the pain of difficult moments that, all too often, shape us. Moments left to languish in the deepest, darkest parts of our hearts and minds.
My favorites include The Tree House and A Dangerous Comfort.
Each one of them sang. It was a very cohesive collection of works that were clearly well thought out in terms of compilation, and beautifully expressed in terms of metaphor and emotion. If you're a fan of darker works of poetry, A Single Lily Waits is most definitely worth the read, and Taura Wildes is certainly worth keeping an eye on.
