really liked it

** spoiler alert ** This novella was a cute spin on Beauty and the Beast with a little bit of Sleeping Beauty thrown in. Beautiful Sofie and her friend Fia are working as barmaids. Sofie was working hard on saving money and making investments. She got much of her information from wealthy male customers. This was how the ladies initially met grumpy Egan and his dopey friend George. Sofie was interested in attending a conference where she would be able to learn about the new railroads. She managed to get Egan to agree to take them there. Of course, the travel plans are disrupted by a blizzard. At that point, things start to get really interesting...
I was initially attracted to this book by the gorgeous cover. Even though I'm not a fan of yellow, I think the cover really stands out. I also loved the camaraderie between Egan and George. It's a shame that this is only a novella. Egan's character had lots of issues that were barely touched upon. The instant attraction that he felt for Sofie made his character rather endearing.
Overall, this was a fun read and I finished it in one sitting. I received a free ARC from the author and this is my honest opinion.
