In God Grew Tired of us by John Bul Dau John wants to reconnect with his family after leaving Africa because of the wars but, it is too dangerous to turn back so, he waits until he is in the United States and has the resources to connect with his family. One way this book was very different than most was the action or the cause took place at the beginning and the rest of the book was effects. the weakness of this book was it was never interesting enough I didn't want to put it down, or at least for a long period of time. For example, when John reached his siblings I was very interested and couldn’t put it down, two pages after this I was disappointed with their conversation and left not wanting to pick up the book again. I didn't find the author's writing style very interesting or descriptive but I think this is because he was more focused on trying to tell their story as it was, not how people may want to hear it. I also thought this book was a great message to send out. One thing I really enjoyed about this book was, it helps put you back into perspective when you see what people will go through just to get into your country.
