I loved the author's Four Lost Cities: A Secret History of the Urban Age (nonfiction) so I'm really disappointed in this novel.

Oh dear, I have Four Cities sitting on a shelf somewhere waiting for me to find the right moment for it. . But as you say, not everyone can write both fiction and non-fiction. (And then there are those of us who can write neither…)
