did not like it

No I did not quite finish it, but to be honest, I'm not sure how I got as far as I did. It is crap!
"Cruel tales" is a misleading title in my opinion a more apt name would be "musings of a pompous prick with an massively inflated ego". Most are not really tales, and they're supposed to have interesting meaning behind them, which they don't. The author wasn't appreciated in his time (I can see why) and died in penury; loads of the stories are clearly him projecting, as in them there is a genius who is poor but not appreciated because every one else is stupid. Quite frankly if he didn't assume he was so brilliant and spent less of his time writing self congratulatory nonsense, maybe he would've come up with some better work.

Millie Yule "the author wasn't appreciate in his time (I can see why)" is one of the most savage things I've read on Goodreads and made me choke on my tea in laughter
