it was amazing
bookshelves: to-read

Alice The Cat is categorized as YA, but what does that really mean? Did all of us adults gobble up Stranger Things? Of course we did. And this novel stands right beside Stranger Things in it's haunting sense of what it's like to be a teenager, confused by everything, heart-broken by the terrible twists of fate of home life, susceptible to the fears of a surging adult reality and a lingering guilt over school behavior that never seemed so bad, plus your imagination g0ing bonkers because your cat seems to want to commit suicide. Was Stand By Me YA? Hell no! Neither is Alice The Cat. It's for everyone. It's like Edgar Allan Poe wrote the Nancy Drew novels. A page-turning story of suspense that is full of goth and other-world mysticism and just plain goofy friends who join the parade to help Tess save Alice, the cat who saves all of them. Go figure. It's marvelous.
