The heroine: Lavender Waters - she has suffered from extreme anxiety since she was a kid and her twin brother River, her big brother Maverick and Maverick’s best friend Kodiak always protect her. Though things change in her family when something bad happens to her as a child. Her parents become over protective of her and so when she finally goes away to college as a sophomore, she has to live with her brothers.

The Hero: Kodiak Beauman - He is a genius and a hockey star wanted by the NHL, which is a big deal at the college he goes to. He used to look out for Lavender whenever he could and he knew they were the same, but different since he suffers from anxiety as well and nobody knows about it.

The Story: Lavender, her brothers and their friends are all the second generation of the characters in Helena Hunting’s Pucked and other series. They all attend the same college and the guys are mostly all Hockey Players. Kodiak was a good friend and a kind of savior to Lavender as children, though something happened two years ago and they are no longer friends and both of them avoid each other. Though that isn’t so possible now that Lavender is attending the same college as Kodiak and lives with his best friend a few doors away from him.

This book was told in dual points of view via dual narration where the male narrator did all the voices within the chapters told from Kodiak’s point of view and the female did all the voices in the chapters told in Lavender’s POV. It was narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Stella Bloom. I love Teddy Hamilton. He sounds age appropriate for a young adult and has a very pleasing voice.

I liked the story in this one, it was different than most. I liked the fact that both main characters suffered from anxiety and have a connection. It was unclear through a large portion of the book just what it was that happened two years ago to make Kodiak and Lavender hate each other, but I liked the fact that the story was told partially through flashbacks to their childhood and showed them growing up.

I like how this group of kids, some friends, siblings, cousins and more are such a tight group and take care of each other and their parents are a big group of friends and family as well. I generally love anything Helena Hunting writes and this book was no exception.
