it was amazing
bookshelves: 2021, horror-fiction, gutpunchers

** spoiler alert ** This was a love letter to slasher movies. I adored this book. I loved the premise, I loved the characters. I had so much fun trying to match each character to the franchise she was based on.

I loved the parts in between the chapters that were taken as though they were from in universe movie reviews. I loved the chapter titles that mimicked the cheesy horror sequel titles.

This book was so good. I just know I'm going to re-read it at some point.

Just an amazing book.

(Also I want to know wtf is up with Heather's final girl story so much. I loved the sudden twist of, oh shit, magic does exist actually. I'd figured they'd just gone with Nightmare on Elm Street with no magic but turns out, not really. Which is terrifying because it means there's really a Freddy Krueger like, Dream King out there in universe.)

Udolpho I finally finished this book. It was great! A lot of twists and turns, kept me guessing and wondering if Lynnette was having a paranoid breakdown or where it was going. I enjoyed Chrissy's crazy high-brow folklore philosophy ranting, and the documents between the chapters, and the various movies... "Gnomecoming" was an awesome title.

...No wonder Heather used a lot of drugs.
