A very sweet book in many ways this book is not part ofd a series and was written in 1989. Chris Palmer and her two young children are struggling in the Sacramento area. The old house they are renting catches on fire. In an effort to salvage her laptop she runs back into the burning buildingFiare Captain Mike Cavanaugh runs in and resumes her. She is without and he offers his home for she and her family to stay until her life is more settled. They become close. Then a story about her background is revealed. Her Aunt Flo gets back into the picture. Tensions heat up between Chris and Mike. The ending is up in the air.
