First 100 pages contain extremely descriptive scenes and characters (Mr. Tappertit, Varden, and Miss Miggs) that are as memorable as any others Dickens wrote of. It is a rich read so far! I am really looking forward to the rest. The 'Prentice Knights meeting was amazing.
Great book overall; although parts are "wordy," it was well worth the effort. The Gordon Riot descriptions are gruesome and the character descriptions are fantastic. Barnaby and Grip are memorable.
In the end, like many of Dickens' novels, getting a true read into each character is what makes it all worthwhile.
