The Library Book

I'm suddenly eager to run off to my local library and check out *ALL THE BOOKS* This book gives a lot of insight on what goes into running a library and has you growing a sense of appreciation for those who put in the the work to keep everything afloat. It's kind of shaped as a true crime book, but evolves into a love letter to books & libraries. At times it was a whiplash experience for me in terms of enjoyment as I didn't always find much interest in some of the things that were being explored, but then something would pull me in and I'd be right back in the zone.

"I'm enjoying this a lot! It's super slow moving, but because I'm interested in the topic it's exploring, I'm not mad about it."

I listened to parts of this book on and off while my girlfriend read it. It was super interesting and kinda made me want to be a librarian. We're planning to visit the library it talked about for Valentines day.

Ooh, I'll have to put this book on my radar. I trained to be a librarian and have worked in several. I even ran a small library on my own when I was in my early 20's. It's definitely a lot more complex than it appears from the outside. So much more than just shelving books, I learned that pretty quick!
It's on my TBR list! I'm interested to see how I'll feel about it as someone who works in a public library. It's interesting how many misconceptions people, my past self included, have about libraries and what librarians do all day (it's not sitting around and reading, that's for sure).
So much research done to write this book. It was very well-written and is a must read for all of us who grew up going to the library!
