Thank you to Netgalley, Dorothy Koomson and Headline for my arc of Tell Me Your Secret.

Synopsis: Ten years ago Pieta was kidnapped by a man calling himself the Blindfolder, he told her that she wouldn’t be killed if she managed to keep her eyes closed for 48 hours. Pieta never told anybody what happened to her and now she’s moved on with her life as best she can. But the Blindfolder is hunting down his past victims, and getting closer to Pieta every day. For Detective inspector Jody Foster the Blindfolder case feels personal, fifteen years ago she made a terrible mistake that resulted in him escaping justice, when she meets journalist Pieta and realises she was a victim, she might have found the perfect way to capture him once and for all, but it means endangering two innocent lives…

I’m sorry to say that I just didn’t get on with this one. I usually really enjoy Dorothy Koomson books but this one was a complete struggle. It didn’t hold my attention very well, the two perspectives were choppy and I didn’t connect with any of the characters, even the structure itself felt really different to her normal style. The story itself felt unbelievable and I wasn’t convinced by any of it, in parts, particularly at the end it just felt ridiculous. There was also a lot of focus on the two women’s name with the reader repeatedly reminded that ‘Jody Foster’ was with a Y so different to the actress and that Pieta is pronounced ‘Peter like the boy’ the second being repeated on what felt like every page. Quite disappointed with this one but it won’t put me off reading Dorothy’s books in future as I usually really like them.
