2.5 stars. I didn’t love or hate this book; it was just a little plain. I did finish the book, and I didn’t feel like it was difficult to get through, but it also wasn’t like the kind of book that had me itching to pick it back up every time I had to put it down.
The heroine (Ryan Mahony) grew up very privileged, but after the arrest and imprisonment of her father, she is forced to move in with her aunt and cousin who live in an area of Dublin with a high gang rate.
Ashley Dunne (hero) is a member of a very influential gang. Ryan’s aunt and cousin are quick to warn her away from Ashley, noting that he is extremely dangerous. But regardless of the warnings, Ashley and Ryan are instantly drawn to each other.
I didn’t really feel a lot of chemistry between the H/h. Their love story felt lackluster and fell a bit flat in my opinion, but there is still an element of sweetness that comes through. There is also a lot of buildup towards major conflict(s) that come to a head and are resolved in a way that I found very unsatisfying and kind of boring.
Final thoughts - All in all, I didn’t hate anything about this book but I also wasn’t excited about it. It was just flat and not very memorable and I didn’t feel connected to any of the characters or events. Ultimately, it left something to be desired.
Oh well, you win some, you lose some.
As always, all opinions are 100% my own.
