2022 Review:
Where to even begin? Five stars, obviously. Jane Austen's characters are so VIBRANT. As I was reading one of Mr. Collins' interminable speeches, I said to myself "she had to have known someone like this! It's too real". Mr. Bennet is one of my favorite characters of all time--and he is a character!

Elizabeth Bennet--I think she's so popular because all readers see themselves in her, or at the very least, see themselves as they wish they were. While a witty, sensible woman, she is flawed. She gets into embarrassing situations. Life happens, and we all cringe along with her.

I greatly enjoyed re-reading this classic. What a fun book!

2019 Review:
I picked up this German edition in Austria on a trip in 2016-- and even though it's my only copy of Pride and Prejudice, I've just now made myself sit down with my dictionary and fight through it. It's a peculiar thing, to read a story you're intimately familiar with in a language you have only a slight friendship with. It's like swimming underwater and popping up every now and then to get your bearings. "Oh wait, I know where we are now!"

Pride and Prejudice is an amazing story, and this is a great edition. I love the cover art, the type face, and especially the footnotes at the back of the book. I only wish my command of German were greater so I could appreciate this more.
