“Sometimes we have thoughts that even we don't understand. Thoughts that aren't even true—that aren't really how we feel—but they're running through our heads anyway because they're interesting to think about.”
― Jay Asher, Thirteen Reasons Why
Thirteen Reasons Why depressed me, but not in a bad way. I liked reading this book mainly because it was told by a guy. The main character is Clay Jensen. He is a very good person and everybody at their school knows it. Then there is Hannah Baker, and she is not a very good girl. Everyone thinks she is “easy” around boys, but they don’t know that everything is mostly lies.
Hannah kills herself, and this starts the anti-climactic book that is Thirteen Reasons Why. Clay receives a package with tapes Hannah recorded before dying. In the tapes she talks about the thirteen reasons why she decided to commit suicide. (view spoiler)
Jay Asher makes the story translate what Clay thinks and feels cleverly because they happen simultaneously while he tapes Hannah recorded are playing.
