What happens when you put together a sexy cowboy who knows his way around ropes, an uptight, control freak businesswoman and a secret baby? One hell of a ride!
Skylar Ellison was the victim of a trick that caused Kade McKay to wish he wasn’t such a dumbass in the first place. But he just couldn’t resist the Sky’s charm any more than he could stop himself from spending one night in her arms.
That one heated moment soon became a baby and with Kade missing in action to take care of some business, Sky raised baby Eliza Belle by herself until she could tell Kade in person that he is the father of her child.
I know for some the secret baby storyline didn’t work for them, but I thought that James did a great job of handling the situation in a way that was believable and true to the characters and their personality. Sky is very much her own woman so it’s not so far a stretch to believe that she would think she is capable of handling a baby on her own. However, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have her own insecurities. As she comes to terms with her feelings for Kade, she also questions whether Kade’s feelings for her stem from the fact that they have a baby together and Kade is just an honorable man or if he truly loves her. I really enjoyed seeing this part of her.
Kade McKay is a dream. He’s such a sweetheart, doing and saying all the right things. Sometimes the sweetness was laid on a bit thick but who can really complain about perfection?
