It was alright.
Cruel Beauty had all the elements for an immersive read - unique setting, an evil lord, a secret sect dedicated to the destruction of the said evil lord, bargains, a cursed prince, and a spunky albeit constantly confused MC (if the title is referring to her, then Fickle Beauty would be more apropos). Despite all that, it was just alright. It could've been great, but it's just alright. The world building and the writing itself fell somewhat short for the ambitious plot.
