it was ok

2.5 stars. Ok, but not a hit. The last half was too drawn out. The beginning was missing.

STORY BRIEF:
Anna was turned into a werewolf three years earlier by a member of Leo’s pack. Leo was the alpha leader of the Chicago area pack. He ordered his pack members to rape and beat Anna for three years until his death. Bran was the leader of all werewolves in the US. When he learned about Leo, Bran sent Charles to kill Leo. Charles meets Anna and knows she is his mate. Anna and Charles leave Chicago and go to his home in Montana. Something evil is happening in the wilderness nearby. Bran sends Charles and Anna to investigate and stop or kill it. Charles is an alpha werewolf and Bran’s son. Anna is an Omega werewolf which means she is not affected by orders from alphas, she doesn’t have to follow them. She also has a calming effect on other werewolves.

REVIEWER’S OPINION:
I normally do not read urban fantasy. I prefer romance genres over straight fantasy genres. Therefore, my reviews may not be appropriate for die-hard urban fantasy fans. I’ve loved some stories which are not romance, for example: Harry Potter, but Cry Wolf didn’t rate as high for me. It had some interesting parts. It was an ok story.

The first half was good, but the last half was too drawn out. The last half was about Anna and Charles searching for the evil in the wilderness. I was impatient for things to happen during the last half.

I wish the author had written more about the three years Anna spent with Leo’s pack. The book starts with Leo’s death and only has a few flashbacks about what Anna went through. I wanted to know more about why Leo turned her, and why he had his pack brutalize her. What did they do to her and how did she respond? Apparently the pack couldn’t disobey Leo, but someone disobeyed enough to tell her she could call Bran. When did this happen and why didn’t it happen sooner? What did she say to Bran when she called for help? I was curious about many things from that time and wish the author would have shown it.

Guess what? I just learned that the story about these previous three years was told in the anthology “On The Prowl.” I kept my previous paragraph as is, because it shows how I reacted without knowing there was a prequel. I definitely think readers should read the prequel first. The prequel was not listed anywhere in my paperback book. I thought “Cry Wolf” was the first in the series. It is not.

Jane Stewart Ruby, I'm confused. You sound like my review convinced you to read this, but my review was kind of negative. Why is this now on your MUST READ LIST?

Rbeey Ooops some how this isn’t the book I was referring to...Sorreeee...but after researching the many different reviews, at the time I got thrown off track within the excitement & awe of the many wonderful book possibilities, & the fact that I cant believe how a lot of the books U have reviewed I‘ve had interest in or thought about reading…wow the similarities R amazing. I find that so ironic! I do hope when UR time permits U to read Night Angel by Renee Reeves .Plezzzee let me know UR thoughts afterwards. I will definitely read Susan Elizabeth Phillips: Heaven, Texas. 1 other book I briefly saw (I’m gonna go back checkout) u wrote a review about Aint She Sweet. U stated that the heroine did some awful things or made the people around her life a living nightmare? U NO Jane I have that bk. in my Kazillion pile of reads, but when I 1st saw it at the store I was fascinated that it was a Southern back drop. I was inspired to give this bk a try because I love Sandra Brown’s Sunny Chandler Return Audio version. I’m a Big fan of Audio bks U see. Even though a lot of people didn’t felt that this was their cp. of Tea. Well I must say I’m a Tea drinker my drink of choice & I don’t like coffee at all. But heyy that’s what makes the world go around! There R several other audio bks by Sandra Brown (Fat Tuesday, Led Astray, Ricochet, ooh my list can go on for dazesss) Linda Howard (Dark Angel, loving Evangline, &Mckenzie Moutain...ooh I’ve better stop) & the great Katherine Sutcliffe author of Whitehorse,
Fever& Darkling I listen…I will 4ever cherish & love immortal Uful greats. I like to think of these greats as my comfort foods, guilty pleasures I can always indulged in & 4ever Not worry about empty calories.
Thanks for the 411 because I was surprise by the fact that there is a book Before CRY WOLF. The book I was referring to MY MUST READ was about a heroine that read people thoughts...hmmm... (Nope cant recall the title...nooo not Charlene Harris books).ooh yeah as I recall it was paranormal-romance with either...werewolves or vampire but within the story the hero either has to kill her & the opposing other side or bad guy wanted to use or harness that power to become a ultimate superior being I think. Does that sound familiar to U? I will go back to the research board again. I hope this is a bit less confusing now.

Jane Stewart Wow! All these books you recommend. I'm saving this list to look into. I'm going to order Never Again and Sunny Chandler right away - just for you! Thank you.

Sönïa Dhillion Would you able to recommend a romance werewolf book. Am just like you in regards to this genre I asked for a recommendation and got this book recommended. But it doesn't feel like any romance in it. Where it comes to action or other activities in the storyline there is endless, in depth description. But at romance bit its like oh we area couple full stop. There isn't chemistry or passion between the characters.that is what am looking for I read Kirsten Ashley with all I am which was a wolf romance but I want to read something new.

Jane Stewart Have you tried "A Hunger Like No Other" by Kresley Cole. I really liked that.
