really liked it

David Brin has long been one of my favorite SF authors, but this may not be considered SF, but fantasy. Dennis Nuel finds himself in an alternate universe where the laws of science have been changed. The effect is like magic, and so this comes across as more like fantasy.
I am not a big fantasy fan, but this is an enjoyable read which might even give you something to think about.
