I could not finish this. The book doesn't "uncover" anything that isn't already known by millions, and is in fact a part of the psychiatric practice. I could not finish this. He also seems to know very little about how clinical trials are supposed to be done, nor how to judge a study or trial...
For someone who claims he's been clinically depressed for more than half his life, his ignorance to the most basic information about depression is absolutely baffling! I cannot believe the amount of lies, and how much ignorance there is in the book! It's infuriating! And to think that a severely depressed person might actually read the book? I would hate to think what would happen if such a person decides to stop their medication based on the author's "revelations"...
If you're depressed, please read about depression from respected medical websites or journals, not this book......more
A big fat "nope". I couldn't get past 30 minutes of the audiobook. This was torture...A big fat "nope". I couldn't get past 30 minutes of the audiobook. This was torture......more

The story was very different and mysterious in a way that pulled me in. I would have been absolutely satisfied if the story had ended there, like one of those "open-ended" stories that allows your mind to roam and create your own "ending / alternate endings". It being a part of a series though made me eager to get on with the other two books.
The second book didn't really appeal to me as the first, but i wouldn't call it a disappointment, not really. It just didn't have that eerie feel to it that i missed. The third book, however, i cannot finish. I'm sorry, but i found this simply boring. It is worth mentioning that i listened to the audiobooks of the three books. The narrators were good, overall, except for the Psychologist/Director , who made me feel like she was bored and sleepy while narrating the book...
Regardless of how i feel about "Authority" and "Acceptance", Area X and the Southern Reach will always register in my mind as the wonderful world of "Annihilation", and i can't wait to watch the movie when it comes out!...more
