Snow always has been arrogant but to see his arrogance turned into fear and control throughout the book. He is a different man from the beginning compared to the end. I felt there was a bit of room for us as the reader to like snow in comparison to him in the hunger games trilogy. The raw animalistic nature of the 10th games was pretty brutal from the moment the tributes stepped off the train. Snow’s betrayal of Plinth was expected but his reasoning was fairly realistic. He did put in effort to stop plinth but ultimately he felt he had to protect himself. And that he did. His relationship with Lucy was interesting. I feel yes he did love her but his image and lifestyle he loved more. I felt their love was far more real when she was a tribute and he her mentor. However I feel that love died the moment he was offered the plinth prize for winning and when he was introduced to their lifestyle. If everything went perfectly, say Plinth didn’t die and all their relationship would have fizzled out. He was too controlled and she was too wild. And he turned on her rather quickly. Do I think Lucy died? Maybe not then but later on because I do believe that snow wounded her and she couldn’t make it. Making her a proper ghost because of snow. Kind of like her ballad. The ending with the Dr. really showed his decent and she is fully responsible for ensuring he be molded to her liking. Yes he makes his own choices but she provides the answers and ways out. This also really foreshadows his hatred towards Katniss. Through the mockingjays and what she represents. Especially with that song....more

The book itself was very fun to read. I enjoyed the story even though the writing was rather basic.

It didn't feel too rushed. However I did feel the romance was Insta and more should have actually went on. The characters were typical ya only slightly more badass. I feel there were too many deaths and lack of remorse, for example a person close to Day dies and they just kiss. This book was a tad predictable. I did finish it quickly, I enjoyed the action scenes, however I am very on the fence with this one....more

L was alive and wrote his own name in the death note for reasons that I will not say. He only has 23 days to live and solve one last case.
The story was great and I enjoyed the cast of characters quite well. The whole disease wiping out the population angle was interesting. L was on top of everyone (like usual) even if most of it was by luck and being in the right place at the right time.
I liked the fictional book format just as much as the manga format. Though, getting some extra description was better.
I do miss the internal monologues. Only complaint.
The ending hit me in the feels though.

Problems: characters I didn't like took up way too many chapters. Decisions were pretty weak at points. An example would be in the last forty pages.
What I liked: character development for characters I hated in the calling. They are now my favourites. The pace was great. People I hate are dead which is nice. People I love are still alive.
Last thoughts? I loved it overall and can't wait for the ending of this series!...more
Okay, this book was good. I'm not denying that. There was a lot of fluff that was tedious to read. Hence the lack of one star. The beginning was great. TOkay, this book was good. I'm not denying that. There was a lot of fluff that was tedious to read. Hence the lack of one star. The beginning was great. The ending was great! Hmm, the parts with the Darkling, and Nikolai were the only great moments of this book. Mal... He ruined the book for me. Nearly every page he is mentioned multiple times and his character is pretty weak. I am really hoping he gets killed off in the sequel. I did enjoy the Darkling's appearances for Alina throughout the book. Even if it was brief. I think she likes him as a love interest deep down. Reasoning: 1. She noticed his room smelt like him and she never gave his smell much thought. 2. She got excited later on "seeing" him 3. She is starting to believe he is right about her in some ways. I think Nikolai is another suitable love interest. He clearly likes her. The story was good, could've been better. The action scenes were good. I actually felt nervous at some points. It did make me laugh at some awkward situations. Alina seemed a little boring in this book more so than the last. Overall I enjoyed it....more

Loved the main character. She was so different from other characters I have read about in the past. She was sassy to anyone. She didn't fall in love with Alessandro right away, even though it was apparent they would fall in love without reading the synopsis.
I did not like how there was a lot of "fluff" in-between all the main events in the book. Near the end I found it hard to finish the book. However it ended well and I might pick up the next novel in the series.
