Note; The author edited and re-published this book due to reader's feedback. The new version will re-release in late May, and will include the female lead's POV, 15,000 extra words, and a new twist - now making Invincible stand at over 200 pages.
This is a dark NA read, and it's the first (stand-alone) book in The Trident Code series.
Invincible follows the story of Patrick, a Navy SEAL, who meets a girl in a brothel, whilst on holiday on an island. He pays her to give him head, even though he suspects she ain't there willingly.
"My name is Annie Hamilton. I'm an American citizen. I was kidnapped from a cruise ship five years ago. You're my last hope. Please save me."
Annie's last words haunt Patrick after he leaves, and not being able to rest until he does so, he searches for a 'kidnapped Annie Hamilton'. Sure enough, he finds all the proof he needs that it's the same girl. With the help of his other Navy buddies, they come up with a plan to save her.
When he finally rescues Annie, he can't wait to get rid of her because he doesn't want to get 'attached'. Afterall, she is 'just a mission' to him.
'Patrick has one chance to be Annie's hero'...or will he be an insufferable ass instead? (<---- lol, i'm hilarious).
Annie; In the beginning, she is a depressed drug addict. We do get to hear about some of her 'costumers', and see what it's like in the brothel she is in. I did not like her, nor did I hate her. Annie was very glingy, pathetic and at times a rather naïve protagonist; she constantly threw herself at Patrick when she wanted something, but I guess this could be backed up by the fact that she might not have known another way, as she spent a few years as a, ermm, prostitue. She was also coming off drugs.
I found it ridicilous how the author tries to portrait her as a 'strong' female lead, and even Patrick constantly describes her as such. Does a 'strong' woman think a man superior over her? Rely on him completely for everything, by choice? BEG a strange man - 'don't leave'? If she was the character that the author wanted her to be, I think she would be her own 'hero'. Though, I do admit, she did need Patrick's help to get her out, but after that? She'd do just fine if she really wanted and tried.
Patrick; I didn't like him either. He was a total asshole. Patrick has been cheated on by his girlfriend whilst deployed, so now he doesn't believe that those sorts of relationships will ever work. On vocation, all 'he wanted to do was get laid' with no strings attached. I thought of him as an average asshole most men are on a daily basis; being rude, disgusting, and just full of shit - mostly the latter.
Patrick always states that 'he ain't a cheater', I find that amusing since he obviously wants to – every time there are 'hot chicks' around, he just stares and admires their 'sexy asses'. He even did that when he introduced Annie to his mother during a barbecue or something. No to mention how he couldn't stop thinking about fucking Annie, after she gave him a BJ in the brothel and he left.
He was not only full of shit, but full of himeself too. I lost count how many times he said something along the lines of 'I'm a Navy SEAL' or 'being a Navy SEAL...'. WE.GOT.IT.THE.FIRST.TIME. Thank you.
The premise of Invincible was fantastic, however the actual book didn't reach it. I'm scared to think what the old version of the book was like, since this one wasn't great either.
Invincible was the sort of book that 'tells', not 'shows'. Alana Albertson tells us Annie and Patrick 'love' each other. Tells us that he is a 'good man', and she is a 'strong woman'. But that's all there is to it.
However, I gave it 3 stars because I was impressed by the knowledge/research about Navy SEALS (my brother is one so I know what i'm talking about), and so did the author. The book, though badly written, wasn't boring. I was mostly entertained and kept turning the pages...and for some reason, I WILL read the next one.
The Forever of Ella and Micha is the 2nd book in The Secret trilogy, and to be honest i'm a little disappointed with it sinceROUNDING UP TO 2.5 STARS.
The Forever of Ella and Micha is the 2nd book in The Secret trilogy, and to be honest i'm a little disappointed with it since i thought the first book was really good, and this one didn't exactly reach my expectations. So yeah, i was let down.
Micha is busy touring the country with his band, but instead of fully enjoying himself doing what he loves, missing Ella is tearing him apart. He wants her with him, but will not ask her to leave collage and everyone behind for him.
Sacrifices have to be made to get them the 'forever' they want.... but is there such thing as an everlasting love?
"What kind of love are you talking about?" "The kind of love that owns you. The kind where you know the other person inside and out. Where you can go through hell and back and still make it out ok.”
Let me start from Micha. About 20% through the book i'm thinking "Who the FUCK are you, and what have you done to my Micha?" I did not even recognize him and thought he changed quite a lot. I swear all he nearly thought about was sex, and to be honest that's really all that happened between him and Ella. I liked that there was more 'action' between them, but seriously, after a while it gets annoying. We get enough guys that think and act like Micha in the real world, thank you very much.
Ella ...ermm... lets just say at times i really did think she was a little bit crazy (you know, just a tiny bit *cough*). And omg, i HATED with all my heart the therapy sessions she went to. NOT a big fan of therapists, just reading about them makes me want to punch the wall and destroy everything. At times i did indeed like Ella. I think she is the kind of protagonist most readers have a love/hate relationship with
The ending was cute and i liked it. It was heartwarming to see how Ella and her family slowly fix their relationship. But i admit i kind of hate her brother - what an asshole.
Having the paperback version i was lucky enough to get a sneak peek of Lila and Ethan's story, which I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT! It's going to be amazing, i can tell ;)
Overall, this was a nice love story about moving on, forgiving, and perhaps second chances. The 3rd book (The Ever After of Ella and Micha) is coming out 3rd Dec 2013, and i'm definitely in for the ride!
The Mephisto used to be 7 immortal brothers who are sons of Hell. Now 6 remain ever since their oldest brother, Eryx, betrayed them and turned evil. Eryx persuades people to give him their soul in exchange for something they really desire, and each time it makes him more powerful. His mission is to become so powerful he will be able to defeat Lucifer himself and take over Hell...and that is where the 6 Mephisto brothers come in - to kill the lost souls and stop Eryx.
But because the Mephisto brothers are sons of Hell, God can not hear them and they are doomed for eternal Hell once the world is over and they die...unless they meet an Anabo - A human born without an original sin. They are extremely rare and each is especially made for one of the Mephisto brothers. If the chosen brother will make her fall in love with him, and will love her back, their love for each other might redeem him.
Over a century ago, Phoenix was the first Mephisto brother to ever find his Anabo, but his mistakes led to Eryx killing her. He hasn't let himself live his life ever since and is a broken shelf of his old self. Until...he finds another Anabo - Mariah. He can't decide if it's a curse or pure luck. He is torn between his instinctive, powerful need to pursue her, and his certainty he can never have her.
Mariah was raised by abusive relatives, and has learned from a young age to box up agonizing memories and put them in a permanent mental storage. Now she is almost 19 and trying to overcome her past. She is doing good and finally makes her own choices. But then she meets a stranger, and the past she tried so hard to forget is catching up with her. Mariah's life has changed yet again, and she wonders if this time...there will be any boxes left to store the terrible memories.
The Mephisto Mark is the 3rd book in The Mephisto Covenant series. Unlike the other 2 it was actually self-published by the author and is officially called Only You (The Mephisto Covenant Series). Each book can be read as a stand alone as it features different brother/couple. I would highly suggest you read the other 2 before reading this one though, because it will give you a better understanding of what's going on, and of the characters.
I have been with The Mephisto Covenant series ever since the 1st book came out (The Mephisto Covenant: The Redemption of Ajax back in 2011), i have INHALED that book and loved it! The 2nd one wasn't as good but i still enjoyed it immensely.
He was so selfish, stupid and just ANNOYING the shit out of me with all his 'she deserves someone better.' You know what Phoenix? Mariah DEFINITELY does deserve someone about a million times better than you. I would say he needs to grow some balls, but balls are sensitive so i say GROW A VAGINA (that can take some serious beating ;)).
He was a total jerk too and most of the time i seriously wanted him to die, and for Mariah to be destined for a different brother.
But other than that, this book was a very touching, emotional, entertaining and extremely well written story that i really, really enjoyed. I definitely recommend you check the series out and spread the word!!
“Even paradise could become a prison if one had enough time to take notice of the walls.”
After seeing quite a few negative things about Falling Kingdoms on goodreads i was hesitant to buy it. But eventually i did, because, like, what the hell? Just cause some people disliked it doesn't mean that i will too! And i am so glad i did.
“Magic will find those with pure hearts, even when all seems lost.”
An Auranos princess must journey into enemy territory in search of a magic long thought extinct in order to safe her sister. But on her journey she will start the beginning of a new era.
Magnus is the son of the Limeros' cruel king (nicknamed the 'blood' king), and will either be a hero or the biggest villain Mystica will ever see. Will he surrender to the light?...Or to the dark?
So you are probably confused, and trust me, i can see why. Let me clarify things for you, because i was really baffled at times in the beginning myself.
In the book the fantasy world is called Mystica, and is split up into 3 very different kingdoms. 1)Auranos - a beautiful, rich and 'happy' kingdom ruled by a fair king. 2) Paelsia - a starving, dusty, and harsh kingdom/place to live in, ruled by no one in particular. 3) Limeros - violent and disciplined kingdom ruled by the 'blood king'.
There are 4 protagonists and each play an essential part of the story. BUT there are a few more secondary characters POV's added to theirs.
I hope it makes a little sense at least, if not i promise you it will if you read the book!
Characters: Cloe(princess) - OMG. The majority of the book i thought she was a spoiled little brat who was dumb and very naive. It seemed like EVERYONE was in love with her. I felt like strangeling. She was exaggerating and acting like she was 5. Cloe was an immensely ignorant and selfish protagonist that i had a hate/love relationship towards the end. She did grow on me though, and at the end i thaught life has finally tought her a lesson and she grew up. Definitely became stronger.
“You must draw from that strength. You must increase it. And you must hold on to it because sometimes that small glimmer of inner strength is all that we have to help us press forward through the darkness."
There are many flaws inFalling kingdom that make me understand why some readers disliked it. For example, the more than 1 love triangle and about million love interests.
But i loved the fantasy world and the few legends. I thought everything in this book was very interesting and i was intrigued throughout the book.
“I have stories. But stories are not facts.' 'I like stories. Love them, actually. Most of the time they're better than facts.”
I was shocked a few times too. Like when my favorite character died. I was like...
The end more than made up for the flaws, in my opinion. It was so emotional it made me shed a tear or two! (view spoiler)[The father scene at the end with Cleo... (hide spoiler)]
Overall, Falling Kingdoms was a book that played with my feelings and took me on a fantastic rollercoaster i absolutely loved! It is action-packed and has a very awesome plot that i enjoyed. The cliffhanger at the end wasn't big but i still need book 2 ASAP (thank goodness it's out already!). Read this, guys! :)
Zsadist. He is the most terrifying and scarred member of the black dagger brotherhood. Zsadist has a lot of demons from his past that just won't let go of him no matter what. Renowned for his unquenchable fury and sinister deeds, he is a savage feared by humans and vampires alike. Anger is his only companion, and terror is his only passion.
Until he meets Bella.
Bella. She is a beautiful and lost vampire, and is instantly entranced by the seething power Zsadist possesses. Bella knows there is much more to him than ugly scars and violence he is so well known for.
But can she make him see that? Can they find a future together before Zsadist's thirst for vengeance ruins it all?
What i thought of Zsadist and Bella?: I LOVED them both with all my heart! They were very realistic and unique characters to read about. Bella didn't annoy me and i understood Zsadist perfectly. I had a connection with them. There were a few complications to their relationship - like Zsadist pushing Bella away. And even though he changed, i though he could do it without her if someone would show him a bit of love and support.
My heart was clenching in pain everytime i read about how mean, and unfair everyone was to Zsadist. I wanted to lock them in a disgusting hole and let them rot there. They were blaming him for all the bad stuff without getting all the facts and evidence. They just automatically thought it was him.
The endingwas the reason this book didn't go to my 'favorites' shelf ( i was very tempted to do so at the start, but then i was like no way). It felt too rushed and cheesy to be realistic and satisfactionary enough, but i still found it a sweet HEA.
Lover Awakened was full of action, heartbreak, suspense, angst and hot scenes. It was a book about moving on, love, forgiveness and trusting again. The writing style and characters were as usual FANTASTIC. Great plot too, really enjoyable.
I would recommend this to all BDB fans who haven't read this yet, and for those who have to re-read it. And for those who haven't read this series at all i would recommend you pick it up immediately, especially if you're a fan of Larrisa Ione and her Demonica series!
Let me start by saying Mary was really annoying me most of the time. She was constantly pushing Rhage away and he didn't even deserve it (well, maybe once or twice). She was hurting him and because i love my darling Rhage so much, i wanted to hurt her too (which isn't a good thing). But then she got a bit better, and i felt more connected to her. I liked her more.
(Like i said before) i absolutely ADORED him. He was such a caring sweetheart, and i don't think anyone can NOT love him.
But what he did (view spoiler)[when he went away after he lost control of his beast when he nearly had sex with Mary, to find some other woman to have sex with instead? Was. Horrendous! I actually did not believe he did it!!! I kept making up excuses even when he admitted it to her.Even though that screamed 'cheater' at me, i still loved him. (hide spoiler)] I was like...
- The writing style, which always captivates my imagination. - The characters, which feel very realistic - The brotherhood, which is as usual full of hotties and guys who support each other. One word - beautiful. - Getting sneak peaks on my fav and beloved Zsadist with Bella. - How simply exciting the book makes me
The most awesome thing was that the sex scenes weren't cut off right when they were about to do it (which was annoying the SHIT OUTTA me in book 1). Lover Eternal was definitely much hotter from the previous book...
"Oh yeah, Mary. That's right." He rubbed her and she gripped his thick biceps, her head falling back. "God, you're burning alive. Are you wet for me Mary? I think you are. I think you're covered in honey..." ********************* "I want my head between your legs so I can lick you until you scream my name. Then I want to mount you like an animal and look into your eyes as I come inside you. And after that? I want to take you every way there is."
The Ending
I was literally having a panic attack or something thinking about the massive probability Mary and Rhage won't end up together.
This is me the moment ... (view spoiler)[The Scribe Virgin tells Rhage the sacrifice will be loosing any contact whats so ever with Mary, and that her memories will be cleaned of everyone. (hide spoiler)]
I. Started. Crying. Now coming from me that's saying something because i never cry reading books or watching movies ( that REALLY rarely happens). But because i cared so much for the MC and wanted them to have a HEA, i did cry.
My beautiful and breathtaking Zsadist is next! Come to mama, baby! (His story better be THE BEST!).
Guys, how in the fucking world can you love this book? This is the worst thing i have read in a VERY long time. I HATEBreach with a PASSION, DNF at 56%
Guys, how in the fucking world can you love this book? This is the worst thing i have read in a VERY long time. I HATEBreach with a PASSION, and i'm not going to be nice about it so be warned.
So i started this book in July while i was on my vocation, i heard so many fantastic reviews and all my friends seemed to love it. Naturally i had to know what every one was talking and raving about so i bought the book and read it (well, i tried).
BAD.IDEA.
The characters were absolutely disgraceful and i hated them too. Delilah was so cliche and didn't have any self respect. She was PATHETIC. Here's prove...
He chuckled, the sounds making wetness pool between my legs.
Can i just say that this is 7% through the book? And we got another lovely example of just how pathetic she is here...
I don't think calling a woman slut, cock sucker, bitch and whore is a nice thing to say whilst having sex. I was fine with the sex scenes (even though they were rough and at times it felt like one of them was raping the other) but the things he said to her (as i mentioned) just turned me the fuck off.
Before doing anything sexual Nathan warned Delilah to stay the heck away from him. And after the sex and the way he acts this is what a normal woman should do...
He groaned and then slowed his movements and he tried to push my head down, taking my mouth all the way to the base. I choked around him, the intrusion foreign.
AND he did it again later on in the book but WORSE...
Impatient, he thrust all the way in and i did what he said i'd do: I chocked on him. He chuckled and stared at his cock as it moved between my lips, his eyes morphing into slits.
Disgust doesn't quite cover it. If a guy would shove his dick so deep inside my throat that i'm choking, i would pull away immediately and cut his penis off. So just in case he has the desire to do that again it would remind him that there's actually nothing to shove anywhere anymore.
The book was also boring as hell and i did not enjoy the plot either.
Rook has just escaped from an abusive boyfriend that nearly landed her in the grave. She takes the bus and ends up in a town called Denver. After loosing her job because of a thing she did not do Rook becomes homeless. Then fate gives her a chance, and when Rook finds a modeling invitation card she takes the opportunity. She likes it there and is trying to start anew.
If there is one thing in life i can count on, is that eventually, no matter how freaking nice that rug is under your feet, someone always pulls it out from under you eventually.
Ronin is a famous model who's job is to make girls forget about the photographers and cameras. To make them feel real things, like blushing, lust, ect, and show it on their features and by actions. When he sees Rook he knows she's anything but tragic. She's beautiful, sexy, and a strong girl who has been through a lot. He wants her but...
Can he make Rook trust him??? Can he provide her the independence she craves and needs?
TRAGIC was a very hot book, especially when they were shooting the scenes between Rook and Ronin. The sexual tension was amazing!
I liked the characters. They were interesting to read about and well described.
The ending (in my opinion) should be re-written. I didn't get it and nearly nothing was resolved - the relationship, what Rook was going to do next. Nothing.
But it was still an enjoyable read about modelling and new chances :)
"I'll let you touch me all you want once i'm buried so deep inside you, you can taste me. Not one moment sooner."
I was very excited to start this
"I'll let you touch me all you want once i'm buried so deep inside you, you can taste me. Not one moment sooner."
I was very excited to start this book and i'm so happy to say it did not disappoint! I admit i was a tiny bit nervous too since i haven't been enjoying books that much these past few weeks, but Second Chances managed to keep me at the edge of my seat!!!
Claira Robbins is running from her past and she lands in a new town. She get's the job of a first grade teacher and is very excited to start. Her first day goes really well...until she meets Mr McLendon...
6 years after their wife passed away the Mclendon brothers are merely existing. They are focused on raising their twin sons and running the ranch, finding a woman to share their hearts with isn't even a dot on the map... until they meet Claira.
Matt and Mason believe she's the one who will heal their hearts and their family that is slowly breaking apart. Their older brother, Grey? He plans to live the rest of his life numb from the neck down, even if it might kill him...and it might if Claira's lethal past catches up to her.
Can they convince Grey to move on and give love a second chance? Can they protect Claira and make her trust them?
This book is not for everyone for sure. This is a different kind of genre that many romance/erotica authors stay away from or don't even know about. Which is a shame because i personally love it!
Yes, it contains 3 guys and just one girl. And i'm not talking about them fighting over her or anything like that. I'm talking about them being all together, not just sexually (though they sometimes do it separately). It's really hard to explain but basically the girl loves them all and they all love her equally. They don't get jealous. And if you read this genre you'll know what the hell i'm talking about LOL.
Don't let that the brothers have twin sons stop you from reading. I tend to stay away from books like that, for some reason MC having kids just puts me off, but i didn't mind it here because the boys were totally adorable and i loved them!
The brothers It was hard for me to visualize them probably in my head because i got mixed up with their descriptions. But i somehow managed. My favorite brother has to be Mason because he's passionate, sweet, understanding and i just love him the most. My second fav brother is Matt, who is caring, funny and wild. And my least fav is Grey, i just felt like he was being an asshole most of the time ( even though he has reasons why that doesn't give him the right to take it out on others, especially his sons). He is the most possessive and protective of them all. Ladies, you'll probably love him.
My main problem was that the book was too similiar to Maya Banks' Colters' Woman. The plot was almost the same, the same things sometimes happened, but the characters were different which is a big plus from me.
Second Chances was an amazing read that i surprisingly could not put down and when i unfortunately had to all i wanted was to pick it up again. Claira wasn't an annoying female protagonist and i loved her just as much as i loved every other character in this book. It was a very hot and light read that i'm sure many of you will adore. GO AND READ IT.
*I won this book in a GR giveaway. Thank you D.L Roan for signing it for me* If you would like me to review your second book then let me know, no pressure or anything *cought* ;)
It got so bad that fortunately for me it could only get better. And it did. Right towards the end.
First things first, this review will mostly be made up of quotes and it'll be a short one because a) i can't be bothered to write a proper review for this book, and b) i got exams coming up (sh*t!!!).
You're probably wondering what this book is about, and usually i just go on, and on explaining to you the synopsis. This is not the case. I can sum it all up in 4 short paragraphs.
Delayed Penalty is about a famous hockey player, Evan Mason, who after his game finds a raped and dying girl in a valley. He takes her to the hospital and stays/visits her until she comes out of her coma. But when the girl, Ami Sutton, wakes up she can't remember what happened to her and who raped her.
Will they find the guy who did it before there'll be a next victim? Can their love withstand it?
I wanted her to come but knew that wasn't happening. For one, she was probably in too much pain. And two, i wasn't lasting long enough for that. Maybe next time.
Their first time having sex and he won't even make her come. Really?Really? Is he that big of an insufferable, selfish human being? Aren't hockey players supposed to make woman come with one touch? Aren't they at least supposed to try?Can someone, like, please push him off a cliff?
"My brother was born on Valentine's Day, too. They were the same age."
Evan, here, is talking about Ami's brother. And guess what? They were not only born on the same day, they were not only both some sport superstar (or about to be), but they were also the same age.
50% of this book is about hockey. I'm not even joking. There is more hockey games and crap like that than anything else for that matter.
30% of this book is about Evan fighting his urge and resisting to have sex with Ami because she was raped, even when she was all like...
10% of this book is a about Ami crying all the time, especially when she remembered a tiny memory from her past. I think she is the biggest cry baby i ever read about so far.
10% is finally about the romance. Did i mention that they only had sex at the end?
However, the book did get me interested in hockey. I never get the rules of any sports. I still don't even get football. This game was no exception. When every chapter begins you get those little definitions of what is what and stuff like that. Was it juts me that was all like..
I wasn't very fond of the main characters either (I know! Shocking right *sarcasm*). But i must admit that sometimes Evan could be an admirable guy. He's really sweet with a big and protective heart. And sometimes he could be a little dominant and rough in the bedroom (just a little though!) I liked that.
Her mouth fell open, steam rolled around us, mixing with our heavy breath. Her fingers clawed at my back and hair as i buried myself in her neck, frantically pumping into her over and over again. Our skin slapped together, and the bathroom echoed with desperate cries and grunts.
Overall, Delayed Penalty was an OK read. To be honest i am very impressed by Shey Stahl knowledge about hockey. But for me the book was very boring. Though I would definitely recommend this to big hockey fans and drama lovers. Otherwise, i don't think this book is something for you. I'll, however, pick up book 2 when it's released.
You're my girl," I said, trickling my fingers down her ribs. "You know that, right?"
Never Ever After:Angel is the 2nd book in the Never trilogy (i believe). I really enjoyed the 1st book. But this one2 annoyed and rolling eyes stars.
Never Ever After:Angel is the 2nd book in the Never trilogy (i believe). I really enjoyed the 1st book. But this one? Not so much.

Basically it's about a 20 something year old girl called Saskia, who always had relationship problems. She was being abused, used, etc. Then she met a guy called Will in a therapy group. They fell for each other, and all that. In the 2nd book their story continues.
I'm really sorry to say this, but all this book is about is Saskia being pathetic. All she does is cry and cry, and cry for Will. I understand that he hurt her, but i don't understand how she still wants him after what he's done. This is so hard to explain without giving any spoilers away, guys.
So, Will left her (for understandable reasons) and she was like a depressed zombie. It's been 4 months, and she's still thinking about him. About how much she misses him. Bluh. Bluh. Bluh.
I'm not a big fan of the male population. I'll tell you somthin', i can count on 1 hand how many boyfriends i had so far. So, i don't understand how she doesn't want to kick his sorry ass and get over him.
Saskia was so desperate it got annoying. She was already in debt with the bank, but she took like 5,000 more so she could go to America and find Will. Even when she didn't know he wanted her or would be there. She risked her job. Particularly everything.
I have a question for you: WOULD YOU DO THAT?????
Maybe it's just me. I don't know. But i HATE girls like her. I really do.
I actually liked Will, he was a likable character. He was a little bit cheesy. I only had a problem with Saskia. For me she was naive and (Mercy, please don't hate me for this) a reckless/stupid protagonist. She needs to learn to be an independent and strong woman.
Overall, Never Ever After:Angel was definitely not as good as book 1. I did read it till the very end, but i won't lie to you and say that i really enjoyed it. If not for Saskia, i thing this would be a great read! :) ...more

took only a few seconds. All the lights went out. It pulled the plug on us.

The 2nd Wave
The 1st wave took out half a million people. The 2nd one put that number to shame.
The 3rd Wave
took a little longer. There are over 300 billion birds in the world. Thousands of species of them. They couldn't invent a more officiant delivery system for a virus.
The 4th Wave
They know how we think. They know how to kill us. They have taken everything worth living for. Now they have come to take all the things worth dying for. But i am still here. I am the weapon.
The 5th Wave
No one knows what it is. But it's coming.
3.5 Stars to the most likely biggest WTF book i read.
I kinda expected much more from this book. It sounds AMAZING, doesn't it? And the plot is indeed amazing. It's definitely something very unique and though out. But what ruined it for me was a) the beginning, b) the main character, c) the ending and (yes there is an 'AND') d)the way it was written.
If you don't know already or couldn't guess from the synopsis, this book is about alien invasion on Earth. I loved the world Rick Yancey has created, it was terrifyingly real but awesome at the same time!
First of all, i think we all pretty much thought it's going to be written like the character is just experiencing things. We all thought we would read about the Waves as they occur throughout the book. Correct? Well whoever said that...
Do you know what we get instead? FLASHBACKS.
That's not the only problem. Oh nope. We also have different character's POV's. Not 1, not 2, not even 3, but 4 different POV's! And i actually enjoy them, usually, but when you don't know WHO it is, it can get rather....confusing. And the author doesn't tell us straight away! We have to figure it out ourselves!
Onto the characters then. This part of the review might contain little spoilers (nothing important though!).
Cassie (the main protagonist) was rather a scary cat. She was also a pretty naive and selfish character. Don't ask me how she survived for so long when she can't even shoot properly with a gun. I don't know.
Here's when the WTF's start popping up in my head - So basically Cassie finds a wounded man in the shop. He's bleeding out to death and holds a gun. He puts the gun down and asks for Cassie's help. What does she do? Shoots him. Yep.
He was a human being. Might have been the last one on earth, and she shoots him because she thinks he holds something in his other hand. Later on, when he dies, we find out it was a crucifix.
We know from that moment Cassie has some serious trust issues. But guess what? She get's wounded after that (IKR - irony is a b*ch) and nearly dies. But get's rescued by this guy. He takes her to his place. When she wakes up she just opens up right away and trusts he's a human being.
However, i did indeed like the other characters. I ADORED Cassie's little brother Sam. I ADORED Ben (when i got to know him better), who was Cassies crush in school. I also loved all Ben's teammates. And i LOVED Evan (guy who rescues Cassie *cough*).
I also loved how action packed this book is. Although, i have to admit, the beginning was rather really boring and i had problems getting into it. But it got better!
The ending was the main reason why i gave this book 3.5 stars. It was so good and so suspenseful! I finally got hooked and was at the edge of my seat. BUT, it was also very stupid (and another ,TRIPLE this time, WTF for me) mainly because we don't know what happened to Evan!
And, excuse me, WTF is Cassie doing??(view spoiler)[letting Ben nearly kiss her on the lips???!!! (hide spoiler)]
OverallThe 5th Wave was a good read but it was kinda disappointing too. The romance was really good and sweet, but of course Cassie had to ruin it (can't she just die already? The world would be a better place). Love the secondary characters and i can't wait to read more about them! ...more

A dark heart. A pure soul. A love that will last forever.
Genre: Fantasy/Romance/YA
The Gathering Dark (also known as Shadow and Bone), is the first book in 'The Grisha' trilogy. And i think it was an AMAZING start. It was really refreshing to read something slightly different, if you don't know already, i read a lot of adult books. So, this was a a nice change.
I was not expecting to buy this book anytime this year, maybe even ever. But when i read the first chapter in the library it hooked me, and i just had to have it. I was so easily pulled into this stunning world of Grisha.
Synopsis:Alina, a pale, lonely orphan, discovers a unique power that thrusts her into the the world of the kingdom's magical elite - the Grisha. Could she be the key to setting Ravka free? The Darkling, a man of seductive charm and terrifying power. If Aline is to fulfill her destiny, she must unlock her gift and face up to her dangerous attraction to him< But what of Mal, Alina's childhood best friend? Why can't she forget him?
"I'v been waiting for you for a long time, Alina," He said. "You and i are going to change the world."
I loved the characters, they were all well-built and complex, even the minor characters. They all seemed so real. Alina especially, I loved her character and how she knew she was different but was afraid to admit it. I loved how she grew throughout the book. All of her emotions were conveyed incredibly.
At first, i was team Darkling (we don't know his real name), but then i was totally team Mal. The Darkling is a really mysterious character and i really liked him. Sometimes he was a tyrant, but sometimes he was so sweet. (view spoiler)[Such a shame he was just acting and playing with Alina. I can't believe how evil he is! I'm not sure i liked that twist. (hide spoiler)] Don't let him fool you though! I wish he was different *sight*
He clutched my hands more tightly, holding them close to his heart. " I don't care if you danced naked on the roof of the Little Palace with him. I love you, Alina, even the part of you that loved him."
I was confused with all the malenkchi, taylor and all these other weird names. It was hard to remember what they all meant, so it was a bit confusing for me at times.
Overall,The Gathering Dark was a fabulous, intriguing, and a unique read that i flew through. The world that Leigh Bardugo has created, was beautifully written and well described. I definitely recommend this to Fantasy lovers, and to readers who would like to read something different once in a while. I'll be anticipating and looking forwards to reading book 2 (Coming out 6th June).
Rock With Me by Kristen Proby is the 4th book in 'With Me in Seattle' series, and i think it might have been a tiny bit better than book 3. That's sayin' something, cause i loved book 3, especially Will *wink*.
"Don't ever lie to me, sunshine. I don't ever want you to run until your legs give out on you like this again. The only time your legs will shake like this is if i'm inside you."
Leo is a famous rock star around the world. He's used to having woman crave his attention. When he meets Sam he thinks she's no different. But, when Sam opens her mouth, he quickly changes his mind. He's intrigued by this sarcastic, gorgeous and bitchy woman. Raised from foster to foster house, Leo has trust issues. Because of her brother's fame and the fan accident that followed, so does Sam. [image]
Together, they must overcome their past so they can have a future they both crave, and deserve.
I wasn't so sure about this book, because (let's just put it out there) i did not like neither Sam or Leo. When i first met Sam in book 1, i was like 'bitch'...
.And i didn't like Leo in book 3 because i thought he ditched Meg and stole her song. But now, Sam and Leo...
"I'll take you hard, and soft, and every way in between." He grips my face in his hands and looks down at me, his noise touching mine. "I'm going to fuck the shit out of you."
I loved Sam. She is like twisted version of myself, so obviously i could easily connect with her. She was sarcastic -
"I run." She shrugs . "Run?" I ask. "Yes, you know, where you put on sneakers and move quickly in a forward motion?"
But she is also a caring, kind and fiercely loyal woman, even though she doesn't show it on the outside.
Leo was awesome! I loved reading how he rocked on stage with his cool band. And even though i'm not a fan of guys who have tattoos on, like, 50% of their body, i have to admit i rather loved the 2 stars on both sides of his V next to his hips *swoon*
[image]
Leo and Sam's relationship was beautiful. I loved how understanding they both were, and how many things they had in common. I hated what they both went through in the past, but i loved how that bought them together. They were both scarred, but they fixed one another. At the end they were strong, loving individuals, who trusted.
I loved being able to read about the previous characters and couples - Jules&Nate, Nat&Luke, especially Meg&Will and all the others. I also loved the fact that we got to know Leo's band members and their families - You rock <3!
This book made me feel all warm inside. It was so hot, but sweet at the same time. Did i mention that i love Sam? -
The sweet nine-month-old giggles as i blow rasberries on her neck and clunches my hair in her tiny fist. "Uh oh..let go og my hair sweetie." She giggles some more and tugs at my blonde starnds into her mouth. "Ew. Do you know how much product is in my hair, girlfriend? It's definitely not edible."
Overall,

This is a story of choices. Of a scarred woman and a man trying to fix one another.
Saskia was abused by her ex boyfriend and then felt so lonely that she slept with a married man. She joins a therapy group and meets William, a man who also has issues in his life. He is mysterious, protective, sarcastic and doesn't trust people easily. Even thought she tries, he will not tell her what his 'issue' is. Will Saskia destroy the tall walls William has put around himself? Will this new love be enough to heal them both?
I got this from the author herself after speaking to her! YAY! I was so happy.
This is a very, very short book. It's only 30 something pages, and it has both Will's and Saskia's POV. I wasn't planning on reading it today, but the first thing i did after i woke up, was go and check it out. I read page 1-2 and it sucked me in. Literally. I had to know what will happen next, so i kept on reading, and i finished it in half an hour.
I really enjoyed Never Ever After , but i definitely have some issues with it. First, this is way too short, i don't think i do well with books like that. I always find something lacking in them, this was no exception.
Then we also have the 'instant love' thing going on. I understand being attracted to a guy the moment you lay eyes on him, but to actually be 'in love' with him? NOT.GONNA.HAPPEN.IN.REAL.LIFE.. Saskia wanted to tell Will she loves him, after 2 freaking days of knowing he even exists *shaking head*.
I also had problems with picturing Will, where is his description? If any other author is reading this review and writing short stories, then please, take some time and write character description. We readers like to know how our characters look, you know.
"One second, angel" He called me angel, he said it before but this time, it was so much sweeter.
The ending - WHAT.THE.HELL? OMG! That's the moment where everything was beginning to look amazing, and i was really getting into it. Then 'BUM', the book has ended.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading Never Ever After and highly recommend this to romance lovers. I would hesitate to buy this if i was the 'happily ever after' type of reader, yeah, you might want to stay away from this book. I can't wait to see what happens next! The suspense is killing me here!
Thank you so much Mercy for sending me your book to review! You're amazing! :) ...more

This is probably the most depressing book, i have ever read in my life. When you read this, it's like you can : feel the pain, and all the sadness, all those emotions are just pouring out of the pages.
This is how I pictured the main protagonist, Emma [image][image]" And this is how i kinda pictured Ethan, delete the tiny beard though. [image][image]"
Barely Breathing is the second book in the heartbreaking Breathing trilogy, by Rebecca Donovan. May i just say, this is absolutely MASSIVE, it's the biggest book i ever read, it has nearly 600 pages! But i actually manged to get through it fairly quickly, only took me about 3 days. It follows this 17 year old girl, named Emma, and it's basically about what she has suffered at the hands of her 'family', and how she is dealing with it. To sum it up, in the simple but really bad way, it's about her tragic life, and what she is going through.
To those of you who haven't read book one, it has first love in it, drama, romance, friendship stuff, and it has some serious abuse. If you're interested then i highly suggest you check it out Reason to Breathe, and find out more in deeper detail.
It starts a couple of months from where we left of in book one, i wasn't very happy about that, but now come to think of it, i think the author did the right thing. I couldn't really get into it, it was very boring at first. But after some 100 pages, it got better and better throughout the book, thanks goodness for that! [image][image] "
To be honest, i wouldn't be surprised to find out if someone hated this book or the previous one. They are definitely not for readers who love lot's of action and excitement, and especially happy books. So if you are one of those readers, run away from this book as far and as fast as you can.
I think what's the best thing about this trilogy, are the characters. It's so hard not to feel compassion towards at least one of them. And when you fall for one of the character, you will most likely fall for the others too. I cared about Emma and Ethan very deeply, i obviously had to know what's going to happen to them, so i just kept on reading. Even though Emma is the most depressing main character, she is still funny and so lovable. Her life is so tragic it's almost unreal. One bad thing after the other, i feel so sorry for her.
“I breathed for you... I begged for you to breathe with every breath I gave to you. I kept pleading for you to breathe over and over again. And then… then you did. ~ Evan”
I was very happy, as there were many romantic and heart-melting scenes between Emma and Ethan. I actually did my happy dance, because they were still together, and they even got closer too!
[image][image]"
Now comes the dreadful moment- The ending. Rebecca has made it a habit now, of ending her well going books with cliffhangers, and making her readers want to throw the book out the window. She always ends them in a very sad and crushing way. I despise her for it! I was so frustrated at the end!
I knew how much Evan loved me. And I knew I didn't deserve it. But I also knew he was the only one I loved. The only one I would ever love.”
Overall, Barely breathing was an extremely well written and thought provoking read. I couldn't stop reading it, and even though there was not much action, i couldn't help but jump from the excitement sometimes. Highly recommend you picking up book 1, if you haven't already, before reading book 2. I can't wait to see what happens next, and what Rebecca has in stock for us. If book 3 won't have a happy ending, then i am never gonna read anything by this author again, and i will even contact her about how selfish she is by not giving Emma the 'happily ever after' with Ethan she really deserves. ...more
Maybe later i'll explain a little bit why i felt that way..but first let me calm down a bit. I just finished the book...ok? Sorry that i'm not sorry i'm being a little bit emotional over here. You would (or do) understand if you've read Champion.
**************************** “Before me is the boy who has bandaged my wounds on the streets of the Lake, who has guarded his family with every bone in his body, who has stayed by my side in spite of everything, the boy of light and laughter and life, of grief and fury and passion, the boy whose fate is intertwined with mine, forever and always.” –June ********************************
HE IS LEGEND
Day has gone from the Republic's most wanted criminal, to the Republic's most loved and respected hero. After everything that has happened, everyone thought their country was at the brink of a peaceful existence.
They couldn't be more wrong.
A plague outbreak deadlier than any other has arisen and war threatens.
June is the Republic's greatest prodigy. She is the only one who can save her country. June's and Day's feelings towards each other get in the way though.
They have both sacrificed eveything, and now they have to make the ultimate choice...
Their happiness and love....or the Republic's survival?
I couldn't get into it as its been a while since i last read the previous books (Legend and Prodigy). Now, not re-reading them before starting Champion was a HUGE mistake on my part because as a result i couldn't remember what happened, recall some characters, and it stopped me from fully enjoying the book. So PLEASE do make the effort and do re-read them if it's been a while, and i promise you'll be thanking me for it later.
June; I felt like June was a very responsible protagonist who didn't really act her age. I wish she was more wild and had more freedom, but i understand in the world she lives in that's, like, kind of impossible. I didn't necessarly 'approve' of her actions (e.g getting into politics), and at times i was like 'what are you doing?'. I would say, looking back, she changed drastically, for the better or worse i do not yet know. But i loved how supportive, (and in my opinion) unselfish she was. And i loved how she would do anything to protect her country and the people she cares about.
********************** "“You’re the scariest, most clever, bravest person I know, and sometimes I can’t catch my breath because I’m trying so hard to keep up. There will never be another like you. You realize that, don’t you? Billions of people will come and go in this world, but there will never be another like you.” –Day *************************
Day; Sometimes i liked/loved him, other times i didn't. But at the end he stole my heart, or rather made me realize he had it all along. Very caring, reckless, smart, and i would say an inspiring protagonist (much like June), but his love for his family was much stronger than that for his country. Day is a very thoughtful character who always thinks of others and how they might feel. I love how courageous he was throughout the book. (view spoiler)[And even with the illness and his time running out, (hide spoiler)] he stood strong and constantly gave hope to the Republic.
*************************** "The Republic is weak and broken." I narrow my eyes. "But it is still your country. Fight for it. This is your home, not theirs." -Day **************************
The dystopian world The world Marie Lu has created is rather unique, very well thoughtout and it felt like the author knew exactly what she was doing with it. It was exceptionally well developed, and i loved it. We got a lot more info and background as to how and why things are the way they are. In Prodigy we got to visit the Colonies, in Champion we get to visit Antarctica...and oh my, what an experience it was! That must have been the coolest place i ever read about! If i was to live in Lu's world, Antarctica would be the place i would definitely want to live in!
THE ENDING. Originally, i was about to give Champion 3 stars, but because the NEAR end was so amazingly action-packed, emotional and gripping that it actually left me at the edge of my seat, i gave it 4 instead. (view spoiler)[And OMG, guys, i was like having a panic attack when Day was having his speech on the Colonies plane and he jumped down, then they were like shooting at him, and then the stuff with June and Commander Jameson, and Day nearly dying and seeing his mother. AND June going to her brothers grave and telling him stuff. [image] (hide spoiler)] The very end was stupid. It ended like many other dystopian and other books have ended and i was disappointed and TIRED of that. I don't understand why authors do that?! It's not that it was 'wrong' or 'bad', it's just that it was sad and MOST OF ALL UNSATISFYING, and it felt like there was no closure at all. I had HOPE things will turn out well. But then we get the '10 years later' crap.
(view spoiler)[I don't freaking get how he did not remember her after 10 years. That is ridiculous! Naturally, and LOGICALLY, someone would have told him about June (e.g Eden, or Tess, or ANYONE), NOT TO MENTION that the DOCTORS actually SAID Day's memory loss isn't really long-term and he would get them back. 10 YEARS!!!! I think that is long enough! And June got on my nerves because the only reason why she hasn't told him is cause she's all like 'he's better of without me'.
Champion was a really good conclusion to the trilogy if we are talking about the 'world building', but in terms of relationships and perhaps plot wise it was a disaster and i think there should be another book. There are still many things that can happen. My main problem was that i couldn't really get into it. But all in all, i enjoyed it and would definitely recommend you pick up the trilogy if you haven't yet.
May i introduce you ladies to ,the most likely, hottest guy ever - Cam Hamilton! Who does not love a hot guy4 stars to a very sexy, and awesome read !
May i introduce you ladies to ,the most likely, hottest guy ever - Cam Hamilton! Who does not love a hot guy that bakes delicious goods and more?!

Ya done drooling all over him, yet? Good, let's get moving.
And of course, before i forget, may i present Avery Morgansten (our main protagonist),who is pretty close to being as lovely and beautiful as Cam.
I know, they make such a beautiful couple, don't they?!
***
"You running over me, me almost running over you?" Cam elaborated."It's like we're a catastrophe waiting to happen."
***
Avery (aged 19) is a young woman starting in a new area, going to a new college, meeting new people, trying to make new friends.
Cameron, or Cam, is the first person she bumps into, literally, as she runs through a door and runs right into him! Cam is a typical college bad boy, a womaniser who is used to girls falling all over him. Avery and Cam are attracted to each other, but she holds back. She is hiding something and no matter what Cam does she will not open up to him, or allow herself to get too close to him. Avery is running from something, and when she starts receiving texts and emails, it seems whatever that is may be catching up with her.
Will Avery allow herself to open up and let Cam in? Can Cam break down the barriers Avery has put up around herself? And most of all, will Cam be around to help her, or will she be on her own?
***
" You are really..." " Amazing? Awesome?" He paused, brows raised. " Astonishing?" " I was going to say bizarre." " Well, hell. if i had feelings that might actually hurt."
***
Now let's pause here, and look at who wrote this book - J. Lynn!!! I don't know if you know ( cause i didn't before!) that J.Lynn is actually Jennifer L. Armentrout!!!! The freaking amazing lady who wrote Obsidian! Wow! my freaking mind was blown away. I thought that she was writing this book with a different author, and then i find out that it was just her in general. No wonder why this book was so good.
Wait For You started of amazingly, and fabulously well. I haven't read a beginning this well written for a very long while. I was laughing my ass of,that is very rare, and i immediately liked the characters. It's a shame that by the end, my feelings slightly changed.
***
"You have been checking me out, haven't you? In-between your flaming insults? I feel like man candy."
***
What i thought of Cam?: Cam is the kind of character that most of readers will fall in love with almost in a blink of an eye. He had me at "Sweetheart". He is protective, extremely confident, and very sweet.
What i thought of Avery? I actually liked Avery a lot, until i got like 60 percent through the book. She started to be a bit stupid, and irritating. She couldn't make up her mind about Cam, if she wanted to be with him at first, and then if she wanted to tell him the truth.
Nerve racking for me, that's all!
"Do you like the color green on her, Cam?" ..... "The color looks great on her, but she looks beautiful everyday."
I'm kind of disappointed about the ending. I thought something really awesome was going to happen, i don't know, maybe some action, but it turned out to be very boring and flat.
Though i loved how J.Lynn doesn't immediately tell us what's Avery's big secret. A little of mystery there. Almost every time i had different scenarios as to what happened to her.
Overall, Wait for You was a delightful, light read. Loved the character development, the tiny bit of mystery, and of course the smokin' hot Cam. I'm really glad that it ended with a 'HEA'. I recommend this to mature readers ( 17+) because it had sex in it, and to Contemporary Romance lovers....more
Any Duchess Will Do is the 4th and i believe the final book in the Spindle Cove series. I am madly, and deeply in love with this series and the author. I don't even want to think about this being the last book because then i might cry and never stop.
Pauline Simms is an overworked and struggling 23 year old serving girl. All she wants is to open up her own little bookshop. When an arrogant and sinfully attractive duke offers her a small fortune for a week's employment, her dreams might finally come true. After all, all he wants is to submit to his mother's duchess training...and fail miserably.
"You choose a girl - any girl - and I'll polish her myself. Who could better prepare the future Duchess of Halford than the current Duchess of Halford?"
Griffin York, duke of Halford has no desire to wed, like, at all. But when his mother literally abducts him and insists he select a bride, Griff decides to teach her a lesson that will end the marriage debate forever. He chooses the serving girl.
"Her," he said. "I'll take her."
But in London, Pauline isn't a miserable failure. She's a brave, quick-witted and beguiling failure that soothes the darkness in Griffs soul.
“I’m the Duke of Halford,” he said, plunging deep. She shut her eyes, trying not to cry. It was all too much—the emotion, the pleasure. The hopelessness. “I’m the Marquess of Westmore.” Thrust. “I’m also the Earl of Ridingham. Viscount Newthorpe. Lord Hartford-on-Trent.” Thrust. Thrust. Thrust. “And I am your slave, Pauline.” Oh, mercy.
Geez people! All the books in this series are an emotional ride, this one was no exception. It hooked me from the very beginning. It was a very bad idea for me to read this on workdays. I knew it would happen. That i wouldn't be able stop reading after i picked it up.
Why i loved Pauline?: I adored Pauline. She has a little self esteem and confidence, but she still has a feisty little attitude and potty mouth. She's a hardworking girl who earns everything she has. Pauline is also a pretty clumpy character, but her clumsiness is as amusing as hell and i wouldn't change anything about it.
"Oh. I see. So your grace never curses." "I do not" "Words like cor...bollocks... damn...devil...blast...bloody hell..." She pronouced the words with relish, warming to her task.
Now here's a male who is worth breaking my 'no guys in my life' motto. He is so right for me and i would snatch him from Pauline without blinking. Griff is dominant, protective and definitely swoon worthy. He didn't care that Pauline was a serving girl, he loves her because of who she is. He fought for her, and became a better man for her.
The sex scenes were passionate, hot and because Griff is dominant, they were dominant too! I loved it when afterwards Griff held and cuddled Pauline in his arms.
"Pauline." His voice was a dark murmur against her lips. "My heart. My dearest love. We are done with this cab. To do every wicked, delicious thing i mean to do to you, i need a bed. And hours."
I also loved all the secondary characters. Especially Griff's mother. She might be hard to like at first, but throughout the book you begin to like her more and more. She was such an amusing lady and had me cracking up most of the time.
I liked everyone expect Griff's best friend. WHAT.A.TOTAL.JACKASS!(view spoiler)[I was so happy when Griff scared his cheek! I was, like, Kill him! Kill that d*ck!! (hide spoiler)]
Even though i guessed Griff's secret i didn't care. That shows how much i loved this book!
The ending still gave me butterflies all over. It must have been one of the most adorable and cutest endings EVER!!!Awwww ! I was, like, terrified out of my mind that the book won't have a HEA. But it did!!
OverallAny Duchess Will Do was a fantastic, amazing, brilliant, funny, suspenseful read that (if i had enough time) would inhale in one sitting. It was gripping and had me swooning and hooked to the very end. It made me wish and daydream i was a Duchess!!! Oh, how i wish!
"I think we've done enough," She whispered. "I'm a confirmed disaster." "Oh, yes. A comprehensive catastrophe. A beautiful, perfect failure." He pulled back to regard her. "And i could not be more proud."
This is called slammed Poetry. Heartbreak. Loss? Thump. Thump.Thump. More of a girl slamming doors. She was aBR with the sweet Susanne! *sending a kiss*.
This is called slammed Poetry. Heartbreak. Loss? Thump. Thump.Thump. More of a girl slamming doors. She was angry She could not be with the one she loved. He had a brother and a job A job he would not end for her So they can live happily ever after. He kissed her when he couldn't hold back And the girl cried and cried. Because she thought they finally had a chance. She got angry, started slamming doors. Had a mental breakdown, cleaned the whole damn house. And when the guy came back, he locked her up in a bath. Trying to calm her down, but she was mad. Until finally he had her calmed. How will their story end, you ask? Or have you already turned the last page? If however, you have not, then i'll tell you, you might be better off.
I don't think i have ever been so confused about a book before. How to rate it. How it made me feel. If i loved it or hated it. I don't know the answers to these questions.
I went into Slammed not really knowing anything about it ( i thought i knew enough) turned out i didn't. I didn't even know it had poetry in it! And Will was not only writing it, but (view spoiler)[teaching it too - figures it'll be in the same school as Layken, huh? Because the author had to have some stupid reason for them not to be together. (hide spoiler)]
When i realized what Layken realized right that moment about Will, i was like...
I was so not pleased by that fact, and i did not like it one bit. For some reason i just don't read about (view spoiler)[teacher and student (hide spoiler)] falling in love and all that stuff. To me it's just plain annoying because all the book is about is them not being able to be together. And they're both just torturing themselves, and you know the drill.
Everything was so perfect, their whole date was adorable! But, naturally, something had to ruin it! And that something had to be Will's job.
This book was a bit unrealistic too. I mean both Will's parents are (view spoiler)[dead (hide spoiler)] and at the end of the book both Layken's parents (view spoiler)[are also dead, and Layken and Will both take care of their younger brothers (hide spoiler)]. I don't know about other readers and i respect if you don't agree, but i found that unrealistic.
BUT do you know what's the most weirdest thing? I COULD NOT PUT SLAMMED DOWN. I stayed up past midnight to finish it (since i started late in the evening). I am so serious, guys. I have no idea what it is about this book. I think it's most likely the writing style (i enjoy simple writing and this one had me hooked).
Maybe it's because i found it really entertaining? Or because i really wanted to see how it will end? Either way, i didn't find myself wanting to stop reading and... i...kinda...liked it.
Do you know what i didn't like for sure? The poetry. I'm sorry, but being a person who writes poems on a regular basis i'm a bit judgmental on that part. These ones, at times, barely made enough sense to me.
So if you read my poem (which sucks a bit! Because i done it within 10 minutes - couldn't be bothered), then you know about the scene about Layken cleaning the house, and being locked up in the bathroom by Will afterwards right? When i read that part i was like...
She was having a mental breakdown in the middle of Will's house. 0_0
Layken was too desperate to be with Will. Will was a dick, he hurt Layken all the time. He kissed her only when he had a 'weak moment' and then told her to get out or forget about it. I would do both but just kick his ass for good measure. So yeah, i didn't like the MC and i felt no connection to them whatsoever. But i did adore their little brothers, although Layken's brother was a bit rude when it came to their mother at the end (view spoiler)[having cancer and all.
