Amy and Riley Hart have it all. A fabulous marriage, and bucket loads of cash. But when one fateful night changes everything, Amy is left without her husband and also her beloved best friend. Six months later she receives a letter in the mail... From Riley... But how could this be? She watched him die... Or did she? The chase is on for Amy to find a murderer, and the truth about her seemingly perfect life.
What a delightful, fun and HOT story! Yes ladies and gentlemen, this book is not for the under 18's. Its full of scandal and lots of sweaty romps between the sheets... Also add a bit of violence and suspense and a hell of a mystery and it was quite the page turner.
It was quite a ride - kept me guessing, almost until the very end. I figured out part of the picture towards the end, but the complexity of it still took me by surprise.
The format was slightly difficult to get used to. There was a lot of chopping and changing back and forth in time, to sometimes seemingly random points in time before and after the fateful night. But I soon got used to the format. I quite like books that do this when they are done well.
I really enjoyed Amy's quest to find out who "tried" to murder her husband. There were lots of twists and turns, lots of sordid secrets and you couldn't help but get into the story. There were perhaps a few too many characters and a bit too much going on for me to enjoy it to its fullest potential, at times it dragged on a bit for me. But overall it was a really good read. Even though the barrage of characters got on my nerves a bit, it was great that you literally had so many potential bad guys to choose from, all with their own motives.
Would I recommend Deadly Obsession?
Yes, who doesn't like a good bit of drama, intrigue, sex, money, power and violence? I will have to check out more books by Nigel May, and It was another hit from the ever impressive Bookouture.
Many thanks to author Nigel May and my favourite publisher Bookouture via NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Mia and Ed are best buddies, working at the same school as teachers. When she finds out that Ed is a virgin, she decides to help him out, so that he can be more confident when he starts to fancy a new teacher at the school. But when they start sleeping together, what will that do to their friendship? Could there have been something more there all along?
Yes the most OBVIOUS tropes, of COURSE they are going to get together! But oh what fun it was to get there. Witty banter, some hilarious situations, and darn good writing. Loved it. This is the first book I have read from Kristen Bailey but it wont be the last!...more

Noelle has lost her grandmother 6 months ago and is still in the depths of grief. When she stumbles across some very old loved-up letters and photographs of her grandmother with a man named Paul, who is very much NOT her grandfather, she goes on an adventure to learn about her grandmothers life before she got married. Who is this handsome stranger, Paul - who she had never been told about? Why did they break up when they were so in love? What she discovers is that he is her long-time nemesis' Theo's grandfather! When she decides on a whim to take a trip to the places her grandmother spoke about in her letters to Paul, she ends up with two tag-alongs. While she is loving hearing all about her grandmother from Paul, she is not loving the ever-building attraction to his annoying grandson....
Look, I liked this one. I did. It was cute and had some very good romantic tension and spicy scenes. I also enjoyed the healthy relationship growing between the characters and the TENSION. And I loved the idea of the road trip... But. It just didn't work that well for me. The characters were a little too unbelievable and I wasn't feeling the connection of the places that they visited in relation to her connection with her grandmother. I don't know it just didn't quite hit the mark for me.
However, great writing. Witty banter which was awesome at times. I laughed out loud a few times. But no moving tears or overly memorable moments. A shame, but excited to read more from this author!...more

The story continues, Elspeth is now stuck in the nightmare's mind, him having taken over her body. And we switch focus to Elm and Elspeths cousin Ione, who is now under the influence of the maiden card.
I just LOVE the card thing. Love how they all work and the magic they possess. And I LOVE the characters.
But - it wasn't as good as the first one.
Still, a great read for any fantasy/romance fans. Lots of action and adventure, the writing was brilliant and the story was eerie, captivating and so so SO much fun!...more

Brilliant writing, beautiful romance, although yes slightly insta-love(ish) but that's ok because it was a brilliant story. Held me from the first page and I am already onto the sequel!...more

Macy and Elliot. Childhood loves. Then something happens that tears them apart. 11 years later they run into each other in a cafe and everything comes flooding back. The only thing holding this together really is the "what happened back then" theme that went throughout the book. I enjoyed the back and forth in time format, leading on to what actually happened. But it was all a bit... Unbelievable... over the top? I don't know.
Anyway I liked it, didn't love it. Obvious twist. Characters: Meh. Even the boyfriend didnt even put up a fight. Im struggling with the absurdity of it all really.

Elise is a theoretical physicist. Unfortunately her current job doesn't pay too much and she freelances as a "fake date". Guys hire her to accompany them as their date. When she goes for her DREAM academic position at an esteemed university, who is interviewing her? None other than the handsome brother of her most favourite fake date. And now he knows that she is not a librarian.
I love her writing, lots of fun, touching and gut-wrenching in parts. The banter is great, the story is great and she writes good blokes. A great read!...more

A lot of people give this author crap, but there is a reason she sells so many books. Her books are FUN! They have funny moments and for some reason I always end up resonating with them to some degree.
It wasn't a masterpiece, but it was a solid fun and sweet read. I'm almost tempted to rate it higher!...more

Justin has a really annoying curse. Everyone he breaks up with goes on to meet their soulmate. Emma and her best friend Maddy are travel nurses, moving from place to place every few months. Emma had the same curse, everyone she dates and breaks up with ends up finding "the one". So when Emma discovers that Justin shares her dilemma, they decide to date. So that when they break up, they will finally find the one.
Ok ok I was in the mood for something light and fluffy. That wasn't what I got AT ALL! Instead it was an intricate romance with some very real characters with some very real mental health problems that were dealt with in such an awesome way that I was blown away. AND with a tender, HEALTHY, witty, loving and sexy romance weaved throughout.
I saw that the movie is coming out and it looks AWESOME! So thought i would potentially ruin the movie for me by reading the book first!

Great story! People stuck in the secluded woods in a bunker, with a window looking out. But they need to lock themselves in at night. Because there are things in the woods that will kill them if they get their hands on them. How are they ever going to escape? And who put the bunker there in the first place?
Fantastic twists and turns. I can see why the Shamalan family are doing the directing on this one. Hopefully it's a hit and not a miss!
Lots of thrills and scary bits in this one.
Great read if you are into that kind of thing!...more
I was hoping that this one would be better than the first. Nope! Too slow, too much of a self pity party. Too possessive, too annoying.

I am not sure what I was expecting when I started reading this vampire saga. I guess I was expecting a bit of neck-biting, and fighting... I thought maybe it was YA. It is absolutely NOT YA!!!
It is an intricate story of politics, betrayal, hope, love, and of course, lots of blood and gore!
Oraya is the adopted human daughter of a vampire king. She enters the kejari, a contest that will give the winner one wish, a chance for ultimate power. To win this thing she will need allies, and she reluctantly teams up with one of her father's enemies.
I was taken back by the depth of the characters, the intricate story with its politics, and of course the slow-burning romance.
Fantastic! Looking forward to the next one!...more
