Read this one for a class, but i really couldn’t put it down. There’s so much tension and suspense between Doro and Anyanwu which is fascinating and I always wanted to see what happened next. I love stories that transcend centuries and continents, and it works really well in this novel in regard to the commentary Butler makes on contraceptive freedom, colonialism, and slavery around the world and throughout history. The ending was a little anticlimactic, and I wish it had gone differently, but I also haven’t read the other books in the series.
